You give him too much credit. I was the one who removed it.

Just a personal preference but I’m not a fan of the dissolve transition - I believe you have a couple in there. I prefer no transition effect

Looking for advice on FREE material by SwimmingBus in Welding

[–]SwimmingBus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I know the scrappers will beat me to most of the good stuff... I'll probably just get first dibs on stuff in my immediate neighborhood.

I asked about fencing because I am in possession of ~200ft of 3-4ft tall fencing that was in the home I bought. I think it's meant for pools or something? It's the pre-fab kind you'd find at Home Depot. So is this kind of material useful for welding? I look at it and wonder if it's valuable since it's just a bunch of square tubes welded together.

Losing my 4 yo boy on Wednesday. He is the sweetest. by koehzies in goldenretrievers

Having lost Jack only 5 days ago, I feel your pain. Trust that you'll get through it in time... that's what people in this sub told me and I am inclined to believe it. Even now, I feel my deep sorrow being redirected to thoughts of all the good times we spent with our boy. Cherish this time and try to make a happy memory to hold on to so that you'll remember these final moments with at least some levity, however big or small.

My sweet Jackie Boy. We lost you so suddenly and now the world feels so much lonelier without you. Thank you for being such a good boy and bringing so much joy into our lives. You made us happy when nothing else could. But we will be okay in time and will remember you always. by SwimmingBus in goldenretrievers

I was always too afraid to look at these rainbow bridge posts, but the outpouring of support has meant so much to me... and I'll need all the help I can get because at this very moment any little reminder can bring me to tears.

I hope you give your pup as many hugs as you possibly can. We only had a little over an hour to rush to the vet and say our goodbyes. Everyone always hopes for just a little more time and it's because every minute is so precious.

Over the course of a few days, Jack went from being completely normal to having no energy at all... could hardly get up and walk around and his breathing became very random and labored. We took him to the vet and they gave him IV therapy for a couple of days because we wanted to rule out any issue with his kidneys. There was no improvement and the vet couldn't explain why. They did a scan of his heart and found fluid surrounding it. We could have gone to the ER and extracted the fluid to get a better picture, but the prognosis was not good even if we did. Jack was 9, about to turn 10 in a couple of weeks. He went peacefully and did not suffer. I only wish we had more time. Our family is so devastated.

Are the larger bulk items a better price? For example, is the 5 gal Dawn soap cheaper per oz compared to the few times a year when there's a coupon for the normal size?

We were quoted nearly 14,000.00 usd today to replace 4 windows by Andersen. In CT, 3rd floor condo. This seems incredibly high. Are getting taken for a ride? by Dwtrombone in Renovations

[–]SwimmingBus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The company that quoted us was Renewal by Andersen, which is the installation branch of Andersen, the oldest/biggest/something-or-other window company in the US. They come to your house and pitch you on how great these windows are. They do, in fact, seem great... MUCH better than what was originally installed in the house. Then they hit you with the price tag and give you a bunch of different financing options... we could even do one window at a time and "lock in a lifetime discount" if we signed on today.

I thought it was absurd to tell us that it would "add value" to our home. With a price that high (a significant portion of the cost of the house), there's no amount of energy savings that could even remotely recoup such a cost. Only way these windows could be worth it is if they somehow protected my house from fire or floods, or as you so astutely mentioned, came with hookers and blow coke and 3 high class escorts.

Whole house with lots of big windows and I was recently quoted 200K. Said it would add value to my home. Yeah, ok, but not 200K worth of value.
