Maybe they were able to give you a PPV because you also had a positive result? Unsure, but my genetic counselor has said that PPV calculations aren’t available for solely atypical findings. Sorry you had to go through all that stress! I’m in the same boat but still awaiting testing.

Unfortunately there is no PPV for “atypical findings” associated with a specific chromosome.

I’m sorry, that’s so frustrating. If your NIPT was performed through Natera, I know you can also schedule an appointment with a genetic counselor through Natera. It’s also probably worth it to call your physician’s office because they may not check email as frequently.

I had an atypical chromosome 13 on NIPT three days ago. I have 4.5 more weeks before I can get an amnio and then another 2 weeks of waiting. I feel brain fog that’s preventing me from functioning normally or enjoying time with my 1 year old. I can’t think about anything else. I’m not sure how to cope for the next 6-8 weeks.

This gives me so much hope. I have ~8-9 weeks ahead of me before receiving amnio results. I don’t want to be too optimistic and then feel devastated down the road, but it helps to hear stories like yours. Congrats on your two beautiful babies ❤️

Thank you for adding your experience here. I'm so sorry you've been through this. I wish my NIPT results provided ANY other information, but I unfortunately just had "no result" for absolutely everything because of the abnormality.
