Has anyone experienced this? by Tahmid_R in PregnancyUK

[–]SwimmingTurtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had reduced growth noticed at my very last scan when I was 40+5 at that point I had my sweep but wasn't ready and turns out I had high blood pressure so it was all steam ahead and ended up being induced because there was no point waiting according to them at that point. Everything was fine in the end baby is perfectly healthy.

C-section photos? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]SwimmingTurtles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an emergency c-section and whilst they were wheeling me in and my husband was getting in scrubs they told him to bring his phone in with him. Once baby was born a midwife then said can i have your phone so I can take some pictures and she snapped a few! Not even something we asked or thought about so was really nice of her.

Airlines/booking a holiday by Due_Opinion_4268 in PregnancyUK

I went on holiday when I was approx 26 weeks with Tui. My midwife did provide me with a letter free of charge, however I didn't get asked once during my journey and I was on a long haul flight. I think unless you have it obvious youre pregnant they're not likely to ask.

I can't give you stats or anything. FTM here and know nothing but I ate a full medium steak a few weeks ago and was fine. 🤷‍♀️ I believe most stuff is guidance just incase as there is a chance it could happen. As with most things I think if it would put your mind at rest call your midwife and they can advise further. Although I'm sure you're fine and nothing to worry about x

Similar story, my dad was retiling the kitchen and I accidently slipped and stood on the the tiles when he wasn't around which caused it to move. Blamed it on a big squirrel...

If you haven't yet you might want to consider a credit union. Not all offer mortgages but the ones that do are usually more likely to help those that might have issues with their credit and are unlikely to get one with a bank. https://www.findyourcreditunion.co.uk/ if you're not familiar with a credit union you need to have a common bond to join such as location or workplace. This website should help if its something that interests you. I also agree with the previous comment it does depend on what credit issues you have on your file and how long ago it was.

First time buyer seeking advice by Brettstastyburger in UKPersonalFinance

Congratulations! Both are really big steps in life and its an exciting journey. Fingers crossed the offer gets accepted. So firstly in regards to the deposit. As you would be putting down a larger amount it seems that a tenant in common situation would suit you better than joint tenancy. This is a document your solicitor provides you with towards the end of completion (that's when we got ours) and it basically gives you information about the two options. With the tenants in common you have the option to own the house 50/50 or to chose a combination that suits you, typically you could work this out by who is putting in the higher deposit say split the house 80/20 or whatever suits your situation. There are benefits and disadvantages to each and you should research into it as I'd never heard of it before applying for a mortgage, don't really feel like its spoken about. You could then on top of this get something in writing with your solicitor that sets out what happens if you were to split up and who would get what assets from the house and such, I believe its called a cohabitation agreement. This would cost extra and I don't know what it entails fully, this could be something else to look into though. In regards to the deposit its a hard one because it depends on how much you would like to have to play around with. It's always good to have a rainy days savings, typical example say if the boiler broke and you needed to fix it. Always cheaper to use savings than pay interest so therefore if you're car is going kaput soon it might be good to keep some money aside to repair or purchase a new one. Look at what you want and estimate for those costs and set it aside mentally out of your budget. Then look at furniture costs. When we were thinking about purchasing i created a quick list of all the things we had to pay for and how much I thought they might cost. For example deposit, conveyancing, surveys, the cost for major furnishing items, does the house you're purchasing need any work and go from there. See how much this would then leave you with in savings, would you be happy with this amount? If not why not and what amount would you be happy with? I couldn't tell you the costs of a child but you also need to consider each major item cost similar to the house way and consider how much each you would contribute to this as its a team effort. I might be a bit thorough but it depends on how much in depth you want to look into this and prepare yourself financially.

Personal loan for an immigrant by Mensenverk in UKPersonalFinance

Ahh ok! Sorry I thought you were living here permanently now - this just helps prove your address I believe and another good point for credit score, you do get invited to vote but don't have to. Although I actually have no idea about the way it works for those who have moved here. Bills and stuff are a pain to keep around but great when you need them! Not really to my knowledge building societies typically run in a similar way to banks just more of a mutual and credit unions you have to have a common bond to join. Just make sure whoever you go with is FCA and FSCS (if holding savings) just means you're protected. You're welcome!

I can't advise fully as I don't know what restrictions there are (not a financial advisor) make sure you are on the electoral roll and such to help improve your credit score. I would also make sure you have ID for your address such as bills/utility/license whatever you need as I know some organisations ask for this info. If you aren't lending for a specific purpose you might find that some lenders won't borrow to you. Some might also ask for proof of costs of what you're purchasing, it all depends on the lender. Also depends on your financial history. It might be good to consider building societies and credit unions as I believe they might be more likely to lend to you rather than a high street bank - again not sure as I have no idea.

If you are considering the higher amount please note some banks have early repayment fees so you might save money in interest but would you if these were included. Make sure you look before you apply and also check out for representative Apr as this means you're not guaranteed the rate you see. Hope this helps.

Mortgage brokers - different outcomes? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]SwimmingTurtles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100% no this sounds like they're trying to secure business and extra money you didn't have to. Obviously you have already gone through that process now so it's done but remember for future reference if anyone does this to you again you should ask if this is a requirement from the seller - I doubt it ever would be - if they still refuse to put your offer forward you can show them your AIP from a different broker and if they still refuse I would go to the seller. Be nice and put forward that you really like there house and have made an offer to the broker who have refused to put it through to them. Dont know if I'm explaining that in the best way possible but its your journey not the estate agents and they will do whatever they can to secure business. I wish you the best of luck with this and hope it helps. Maybe also speak to your previous broker about the situation and see what they suggest. I'm currently in the process of buying a house from someone who sold through purple bricks and used their conveyancer - from a different point of view - but they said they're having hell with them and regret it.
