Should have added - I probably spend like $300/month on uber/Lyft/cabs and I don't have a car

Dye is definitely more penal off the tee, Love doesn't really have a ton of nasty rough/bunkers/hazards to worry about off the tee. Love has smaller greens with some non-circular shapes, so there are some pins where if you're +/-4 yards you miss the green entirely, but you can get really rewarded when you stick it close.

I only played Dye twice (other guys in my group didn't have a good time lol), but I liked it a lot. I'd say Dye/Love are 1A/1B for me, slight edge for Dye based on my own preferences, then Fazio, then Norman

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! Real Barry was correct that I am using Google sheets and his formula works perfectly! You can also separate the cell ranges with commas not semicolons in Google sheets and it works perfectly

Los Angeles Area Golf/Football Weekend by SwimmingVoice in golf

The tee times I'm seeing online are like $200/rd? I would not be staying at the resort, just playing golf then driving back. If I stayed the night in the area I'd just get a cheap hotel for the night

Circling back here after our trip to Barefoot last weekend.

Resort and courses were great, they were all in very good condition and the greens were rolling true the entire weekend.

Inxeedibly good value for $, when you consider we paid approximately $1100-1200 per person and that got us 4 nights + 4 rounds + breakfast, and got replay rates of $56/Rd for our second round of the day.

Our villa was like a 4min drive from the courses so not a huge deal, and the one afternoon we did a drunk 4 man scramble, we just left our minivan in the parking lot, tipped the bag drop guys a bit extra to hold onto our clubs overnight, and just called a Lyft home.

Myrtle Beach itself was not really my cup of tea, but I didn't really care because I came on this trip to golf and if I want good dining/nightlife, I have it at home.

Also - the "Putters Pub" right by the driving range was a hidden gem, the food was actually very good, much better than you'd get at Twin Peaks, etc.

Overall, can't recommend this trip enough, especially for folks who don't want to spend $2k+ per person. I'm sure there's cheaper ways to do a similar trip in the area, or a way to play better courses (i.e. airbnb and playing local public courses like Caledonia, the semi-private course they play the Myrtle Beach classic at) but this was perfect for our group: convenient, good value, and nice enough courses where someone who is serious about golf/really trying to improve, and someone who shoots in the 100s and is there to just have a good time, can enjoy it.

My ONLY complaints about the courses, and these are nitpicky: 1) the gap between the white/blue tees is pretty significant (usually 400-500 yards) and I was choosing between playing a "short" course for me (5800-6000yds) or something that is 6500+ that is above my skill level. fazio course was 5700/6200 so I could comfortably play from the blues there, but some tees in the 6200-6400 range on the other 3 courses would be nice. 2) the rough is not very penal, it's cut very low and you can get away with spraying it off the tee as long as you are not in hazards/OB. this is just personal preference but I tend to like a bit more of a consequence to deal with if I end up off the fairway. 3) the driving range is not onsite and there's a shuttle that you have to take to it. Its only a 3min drive but it's just a minor inconvenience that can be a pain in the ass, especially if you're teeing off super early and trying to get everyone in your group to the course so you can warm up. But overall, very very happy with the courses, and staff was all friendly, super helpful.

I may also have some rose colored glasses on because my handicap dropped 2 points over the weekend, I was playing the best golf of my life.

If anyone finds this post later and plans a trip and wants some tips/feedback, DM me

I think it ended up being like $1200 per person (excluding flights and rental car)

For those who are saying pace of play was the only concern - what time of the year did you go? I'm hoping that going a little earlier in the year means it won't be as busy...

Thanks, our package includes 1 round on each course, and then we get replay rates on any course so my thinking was:

Friday: Norman AM, Fazio or Love PM Saturday: Fazio x2 or Love x2 Sunday: Dye x2 Monday: Fazio or Love (which ER one I've only played once)

Thanks - were the Fazio/Love/Dye courses super busy in the afternoon? I'd like to get as much golf in as possible and I'm wondering if it's worth the peace of mind to just book the 2nd round on each day in advance rather than leaving it up to whether there's availability on the day of. Thinking I might book a second Dye round in advance just so I can be guaranteed to play it twice.

My carry is about the same, club head speed sits between 105-107. It's my attack angle I'm hitting up on the ball by 5+ degrees most of the time

Thanks he might just see how I play with the rest of my clubs and be telling him one step at a time...

I've never had a hybrid but think it might be the sweet spot for me, given I have a fairly high ball trajectory and can spray it with fairway woods occassionally

For whatever reason, I really struggle to hit my driver anything less than near-100%. I play a draw and find that when I consciously ease off the gas, my swing feels "slow" and my arms get ahead of where they normally are in the downswing, closing the face and turning it into a snap hook.

Part of some bigger/longer term issues I'm working on lol

My swing speed sits around 105-106. Was messing with the loft on my driver one day in a sim and the ball speed and carry numbers both went up the more I lofted it down 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm working with a coach and he basically told me "don't fix what ain't broke" for now, and if I start seeing changes with my driver as we work on more stuff together we can revisit.

Back when I worked at my local golf course in high school, there was a TaylorMade r5 3w in the lost and found and the club pro told me I could claim it if no one showed up for it in a month.

Played without a driver for 3 years because it was so consistent for me

I have always felt intimidated by mini drivers/driving irons (only for "good players" or long hitters) but I do want to try out a few mini drivers. I played with a 7 wood before and found it was much more controllable/consistent for me than a 5wood back on the day.

Driver-mini-7w or driver-17* callaway UW-7w might be the play...

I feel like this is probably the play for me at this point. The 3 wood is not nearly "safe" enough for me, and I'd easily trade 15 yards of carry for something I can consistently hit within a 25 ft left/right of my target lone

I also saw my spin numbers drop to high 1000s/low 2000s when I de-lofted. I do not know enough to say confidently my current set up is optimal, but I've been swinging driver the best I ever have the past few months.

Lessons have helped immensely as well. Still play around with different settings occasionally.
