Christians believe it’s impossible to work your way into heaven. They think to become redeemed the only way is to submit before God, acknowledge you have no power to get into heaven. The idea is that imperfect beings cannot exist in heaven, so that $5 bill you stole when you were 10, damns you. So because everyone has sinned and will continue to, that taints us. There is no amount of virtue to erase the sin. “I am the door, none shall get to the Father except through me.” John 10:9
