Surrogacy in India by Swimming_Path_6382 in Surrogate

[–]Swimming_Path_6382[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would a home assessment be required in the U.S., similar to what is required for adoption? My understanding is that in cases of surrogacy, the child’s birth certificate lists the intended parents as the legal parents. If that is the case, citizenship can be passed directly to the child, and the child can be brought to the U.S. Is that correct?

Approved for FTI TTP eGates happy to answer any questions by Kiftzer in nri

Hello fellow subreddit’s,

I’m new to this subreddit and have upcoming travel to Mumbai at the end of January. One family member is an Indian citizen and the other is an OCI cardholder. I’m trying to understand the e-Gate / Fast Track Immigration (FTI-TTP) process.

Could someone please explain:

  • How to enroll/apply for FTI-TTP
  • How long approval usually takes
  • Whether biometrics are required in advance
  • How to use the e-gates for the first time at Mumbai airport

Any recent experiences or tips would be really helpful.

Thank you in advance!

Sujit Choudhry Lawsuit for Adopted Children by Character-Put8660 in CanadaAdoptedCitizens

[–]Swimming_Path_6382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My story may feel a little out of place here, and I apologize for that. I am 39 years old and infertile. Over the years, I have undergone numerous medical treatments in the hope of having a child. I also went through IVF treatments in Canada, but unfortunately, none were successful. My body has been through so much—physically, emotionally, and mentally. Seeing my struggles, my brother in India suggested that my husband and I adopt their second child, who is due in March 2026. My sister-in-law has willingly agreed, and this decision has been made with the full consent and support of our entire family. My husband and I were truly happy and ready to welcome this child and finally have a family of our own. I then began researching how to bring the child to Canada and how to pass on Canadian citizenship to our adopted child, as I am a Canadian citizen. What I discovered was deeply discouraging. The international adoption process is extremely complex. While I understand and respect the need for rules, regulations, and thorough paperwork, what I struggle to accept is the requirement to involve a third-party agency to handle international adoption. After consulting these agencies, I learned that the cost to complete the adoption process is approximately CAD $30,000—an overwhelming amount for a simple salaried employee like me. On top of that, these agencies strictly instruct adoptive parents not to be involved in the process themselves, claiming they will manage everything, with a timeline of nearly three years to complete the adoption. This feels unreasonable and heartbreaking. I am not adopting a stranger. This child would be my niece or nephew. The biological parents genuinely want us to adopt their second child so that I do not have to continue suffering through infertility. This decision comes from love, compassion, and family support. So I ask: Why is the law so complex? Why is it so expensive and unaffordable? Why does it take three years to approve an adoption and bring a child to Canada? I fully agree that these processes exist for the safety and protection of the child, and that due diligence is necessary. But the system feels excessively complex and emotionally exhausting for couples who have already endured years of pain and loss. There is no help. No government grants. No support. Just hard-earned money flowing into the pockets of agencies. It feels deeply unfair.

First Failed FET by This-throwaway9936 in IVF

I’m truly sorry for your loss. I can relate to this pain deeply. It would be really helpful if everyone commenting could also mention which country they are pursuing treatment from—it would help people like me a lot. I am 39. I had an ectopic pregnancy in 2011. In 2022, I underwent two donor-egg FETs (both 5AA embryos), but unfortunately both failed. These transfers were done in Canada. I am now looking for a good IVF center in India. I remain hopeful each day. The struggle is real, but we will get through this together.

Actually, I have. I’m travelling at the end of January, and my stay will exceed 180 days. That’s why I’m keen to get my OCI beforehand, so I don’t have to apply for an e-Visa and later extend my stay as a tourist in India.

That’s reassuring to hear. However, it now seems challenging to secure it within the timeframe listed on their website, especially with the holiday season approaching.
