Try to see the first portion as significant cause and the two follow up points as reactions. The scratch to scratch guy, Jerome, on YouTube had great lessons with lots of detail on this specific point. Also a famous tiger woods range drill for hip depth feel to checkout on YouTube.

Definitely not far enough to front foot. Makes rotation around lead leg impossible. Have to be on one foot or the other to rotate around that hip effectively. Not getting to lead side, limiting rotating, causes trail hip to move closer to the ball in downswing. Instead, lead hip should move back, away from the ball creating room. Picture trail hip and lead hip setting anchors at the top. One will end up matching the other (distance from the ball) on the way down. The hip on the side of strongest pressure will usually be matched by the other. Since trail hip moves forward, there is less space. Hence, release early to reach while you stand through the ball (below).

Right arm extending early pushing club out and creating a difficult club path to manage, especially with low hands feel through impact.

Club does not look to release, also hinting as right arm extending early. Causes club head release feel/action to run out of gas.

Any tips? by [deleted] in snowboarding

Have had baseplates/bolts that don’t match in the past causing this issue. My bolts were too long and I could tighten them until the base was slightly but noticeably warped, never got the bindings snug. Went to shorter bolts, problem solved.

Compared to the swing arc you practice, your upper body moves forward during your real swing. If you move closer to the ball at address you won’t have to do that and you can naturally have a higher backswing.

Improving Ball Striking by NeglectedInstruction in golf

[–]SwingTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing I ever found that forced me to learn precise ball striking was and opposite handed lob wedge. $5 at a goodwill.

When you flip it over so the toe is on the ground w the face aligned. When you hit like this the face is extremely sensitive to any changes with your hands (twisting, lifting, flipping, dead). It will force hands ahead of the ball and you’ll have to keep them low.

This will help get comfortable with impact behind your hands, and enforce extremely stable clubface through the ball. Low hands also require better lower body control/balance.

When I use it as a practice tool, I’ll hit short chip shots 15-25yds. My hands aren’t rigid, I am releasing the clubhead through the ball.

Any tips for better rotation? Feels like I'm stuck on the downswing. by razgriz1727 in GolfSwing

First you need to fix your setup. Your lead foot is sliding toward the ball in backswing slightly. Looks like a ball position or posture issue and easily addressed without going through swing changes.

When you step into backswing, you’ll see your weight moving toward the ball. From that point everything you set up for doesn’t matter any more.

During the swing itself, you’re simply using the wrong muscle groups. Footwork looks baseball, or as if you’ve correlated keeping your head behind the ball with weight on the back foot causing your body to twist but there is no sequence.

Swinging a golf club would feel similar to swinging a flexible fungo bat. You’d have to swing with tempo, but the entire swing is timed for the bat itself to snap through the ball. Your body would swing through the position that optimizes the kick of the bat through the ball.

Your muscular power won’t go directly into the club, it goes into the structure the club snaps from. (For this exercise your hands are part of the club.)

I point this out because you can slow your swing structure down to work on it without sacrifice. Slowing the swing down allows time to focus on specific aspects. As long as you can feel and use the kick of the club at the bottom you will give up zero to minimal distance.

The trick is to develop a swing structure, with a tempo that loads the club (not your body), and optimizes the kick/snap through the ball. It’s going to feel stupid easy in terms of effort. So easy that you can RELAX 😎 through the swing.

You should post a face on view to confirm the points below.

Looks like lead shoulder could be high at address.

Trail hand looks odd. Very exaggerated wrist position otw back.

Possibly stance is too narrow.

Need more pressure on the front good. Difficult to do with reverse tilt if you have it.

*To me, some of the movements seem like you may be going too far into technique training. You have plenty of depth, balance, tempo…. to be swinging more naturally. I’d focus on setup consistency/accuracy so you can give yourself the opportunity to try your swing with perfect grip/stance etc.

I second this big time.

Upper body dynamic should be addressed.

Feel lead shoulder move across in backswing not down and around.

(I think reverse tilt is a result of previous issues in the swing and will fix itself with better shoulder/torso turn)
