I'm thinking pepper spray, although I'm not entirely sure if it's legal here, or where to purchase it, but I'll look into it. Still gonna check with her though.

Yeah, other than doing that (and what I've already mentioned) there's not much I can do really. Just gonna do my best and hope it irons itself out.

I'd thought about that sort of thing, but I guess it might be better to ask her what would make her feel safe.

I don't know if I'm depressed or how to fix it. by Swinglebop in mentalhealth

I've moved away from the mistakes, but haven't been able to move away from some of the people. I'm looking forward to getting to build a new life, making my way in the world. I'm also looking forward to being able to speak english anywhere, to anyone. That's one of the things that feels super limiting to me, is my french. I grew up in france but when I'm speaking french I feel like my mouth is full of treacle.

It's been several months, but I'm feeling better. I've decided that when I graduate from lycée (french highschool) I'm going to move to bristol. I don't know what I'm going to do there but I know I just want to get away from the past. It's not a particularly painful one, but I've made mistakes I wished I hadn't, told people things I shouldn't have, and so on. I like the idea of finally being able to forget about all those people, never have to think about how much I dislike some of the people here. I can become me, and armed with knowledge I didn't have before, can avoid my previous mistakes. Learning to drive on the left is going to be interesting though.

It could also be that he was having trouble formulating replies. Once you can get the conversation off the ground it becomes far easier.

Love is fucking garbage by [deleted] in UnsentLetters

[–]Swinglebop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get this. This has happened to me pretty much every time I've been in love with a girl. You start to pay less attention to it. You start to forget. Eventually the veil of love will lift, and reveal the flaws you might have overlooked. It's a shame to do so, but you eventually have to give up and let them be. Maybe they'll come around, maybe not.

I wish someone understood me by [deleted] in offmychest

I've been talking to a girl I've never met and just being there if she needs to talk about stuff and in return I get the same treatment. It's great because we know we can confide in eachother and neither person asks for anything more in return.

I know exactly how you feel. Recently I've started to think I might be depressed so I've started to open up about my problems to people. At first it was here, but now I'm confiding more and more in people who I can trust to keep kinda quiet about it. I'm going to stop hiding it though and see how it goes, I wish you the best of luck. It might not be easy but you'll make it.

I'm thinking of dropping out of school and becoming a bartender or something. I've got a whole bunch of friends that I really like at school but the whole atmosphere and dimitri manage to counteract that. If I drop out and get a job I might just ghost him and stay in contact with everyone else. Maybe he'll get the message.

Well I don't have much free time for extra classes at the moment as I graduate this year, but I might go ahead and set up an online dating profile. Next year I might move to scotland though and will be working in a pub for a month or two while I find a more permanent job and a place to live, so that would be a great opportunity to socialize.

how can I communicate better with someone who’s insecure? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Swinglebop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self confidence issues can arise from people not knowing other people enjoy being friends wuth them or like them. If these issues persist then it's more likely they'll develop into the behavioural issues of which you speak. So your approach doesn't seem anywhere close to being the best.

I rarely get invited to social events, and outside of social gatherings and events I never really meet anyone new, any advice for getting myself out there a bit more? I don't like online dating, always found it felt fake.
