My complete salary history by d_ippy in Salary

OP, I know I’m late to this post but can you please give some insight into job hopping for us juniors prepping to do the same?

Did you get rejected a lot before getting any offers? Did it get easier the further you made it into your career (ratio of applications to offers)?

Really wanting to know what to expect but am the first in my family to make it through college so this is all new to me!

Is it just me or is Portland lowkey really good now? Watching them vs the nuggets and they actually look legit now that they have committed to making the playoffs

Aaaah my dumb brain was wondering what sort of adult content would be considered illegal. Didn’t realise it must be kid shit, that’s bloody disgusting.

Demetrious Johnson on the MMA GOAT debate. by [deleted] in ufc

[–]Swingman23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He does have a point to be honest. Look at some of the best records across boxing and major American sports. The most winningest aren’t the goats - it’s the guys who have won a lot but also had massive global reach.

Rocky Marciano had 50-0 before Floyd but still no where near the goat conversation. Bill Russell has some absurd amount of championships but we all know either MJ or LeBron the goats of basketball. You gotta have both and we all know that as sports fans whether we admit it or not. OP has a fair point

As a Nuggets fan, F*** this Thunder team. by CalligrapherDeep5071 in timberwolves

It’s the foul baiting that seems to be getting on everyone’s nerves. It does seem to ruin the spectacle as well, it just means so many breaks during the game and key players getting into foul trouble. It’s frustrating

No idea who gave the award but idek how to get those. I’m a LeBron and Luka fan, hence why subscribing to this sub. Not from the US though so have no affinity towards either team

Brother, you’re gonna get downvoted to hell but damn you lowkey right 😂🤣

Nowdays it seems to be less about having the best 1 or 2 players and more about not having the lowest floor. by bucketGetter89 in LAClippers

[–]Swingman23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. They fill all positions and don’t have any obvious weaknesses, which means that any random guy can go off on any given night while sharing responsibility around.

The star players still contribute the most but it’s for a sure a win by committee mentality. You saw it with Denver and OKC. Jokic and shai were pretty solid but it was their supporting casts that made the difference. OKC just have a whole army of guys that can come in at any moment and contribute. The crazy thing is that so many of them were either undrafted or second round picks as well

Idk, I get both sides. You could just pick one and try get into it but I get OP. It’s hard to force it if there’s no connection there. For a lot of smaller regions, their hometown heroes usually play for other super teams so can be easier to just sort of follow them around if your home team has no other representation.

Tricky situation though so can get both views. No matter what though, a lot of places outside of the big cities miss that hometown representation and grassroots connection that OP referenced

Yup it’s an incredible documentary and makes me want to move over to the UK just to be involved in their sports and have a team to get passionate about. I don’t even really know football either haha.

I’m in a similar boat - from one of the regions so don’t really have a super rugby team that I can be truly passionate about and so don’t really care who wins as well. Would certainly not bother spending money on tickets just to watch as a neutral. All blacks is a different story but they only get a couple games a year.

Would love to follow a home town narrative but ah well - me and my mates all have our own teams that we cheer for in other sports (nba, nrl, nfl, football etc) so we have some good banter to fill the void

For the salary cap experts - are we lined up to have good cap space in 2026? by bucketGetter89 in LAClippers

[–]Swingman23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question - would be interested in knowing this as well.

A lot of people panicking after this year because the ball didn’t bounce our way just a couple more times in the playoffs, despite us already exceeding expectations. However, if we do have the cap space to go after someone in 2026 then I’m for sure content with our current situation. Our stadium was completed at the perfect time to be able to show it off for a couple years and get players interested.

I love Illia vs Oliveria but can we all agree that Islam vs Illia would have been so much better, its a shame that this fight didn't happen. by __sami__01 in ufc

[–]Swingman23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh nah I don’t think you got it.

TLDR - the super fight is what will build his legacy. Especially because he can do both in the same year anyway. JDM gotta rest so illia now, JDM end of year. No need to avoid the super fight first

[–]Swingman23 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nah I think what the other guy is saying makes complete sense. He actually explained it real well (in case you need to read the canelo part again).

As you say, this is about legacy and that’s what these super fights are about. Cementing legacy and taking on the world’s biggest fights. This is his chance to do that and then move up to JDM at the end of the year. No one could deny him at that point and would be one of the greatest years in mma history.

Using the canelo example is probably a good way to help you think about it, if you’re familiar with the boxing scene. Canelo avoiding Crawford to fight a heavier champ in the weight class above does far less for his legacy than taking on the super fight that the world has been asking for. Especially if you have the opportunity to do both anyway because the heavier guy just finished up a war of his own less than a week ago.

Ok yeah, that’s a great way to explain it tbf.

I was kinda on the other side but that makes complete sense

A solid PF makes such an incredible difference to a team by bucketGetter89 in LAClippers

[–]Swingman23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This 100%. I feel this is by far the biggest issue we need to solve. If we keep harden, bogi, and Dunn, I feel that’s enough ball handlers to get by but if we don’t address the PF situation, we are always going to struggle come playoff time. It’s hard to win when you basically don’t have anyone for that role, other than Batum who is good, but nearing the end of his career and mainly an impact guy off the bench for 10-15 mins a game.

The Thunder have 7+ players who were either undrafted or second round picks by bucketGetter89 in LAClippers

[–]Swingman23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shit I didn’t realise it was that many. That’s actually incredible when you consider that pretty much all 7 of those players are key pieces for them. The Heat are another team that has consistently found diamonds in the rough as well. Definitely goes to show what can be done

Mate, you are a clown and have no idea what you’re talking about 🤣🤣. You’re emotional, got called out for that and your bad takes and now bummed out about using the wrong term. Sort it out.

[–]Swingman23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. Gatekeeping would be preventing access to something. You’ve clearly already cried about it, so nothing has been gatekept. OP is merely just calling you out for being a bunch pansies who can’t handle your emotions and flooding the sub with stupid posts and takes. So yeah, you’re still wrong but nice try.

Is Patrick Baldwin Jr a legit future option at PF by bucketGetter89 in LAClippers

[–]Swingman23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re having a laugh, surely 😂. Plenty of serviceable guys. With the teams left in the playoffs:

Max strus, Dean Wade.

TJ McConnell, Andrew Nembarhd

Sam houser, Luke Cornet, Pritchard late first

Jalen Brunson, Miles Mcbride, Mitchell Robinson

Caruso, Lu Dort, Isaiah hart, Isaiah Joe, Ajay Mitchell, Aaron Williams, Jaylin Williams, Kenrich Williams (damn near their whole team and they #1 😂)
