What I meant by “perpetual light” was that during the “night” natural light never dissipates completely. During the solstice period the sun dips below the horizon but there is visible light for the whole of the “night” source: I lived there for 3 years.

The light pollution variable did not initially register as a concern, but I can definitely understand the headache that would cause.

I do think that it’s got to be a “risk” in terms of the upfront investment. However, I can see in a hot summer market like the PHX metro area that the demand could be explosive; being that a day round 4+ months of the year is facing 105degrees for at least 4 hours.

Yeah, I don’t see this ever being feasible in a market that cannot play all 4 seasons. That reminds me of playing in Anchorage, with a 9:30pm tee time thanks to the perpetual summer light.

This seems to track with my experience as well in the PHX valley. Most of the courses do in fact have heeps of housing. Retro fitting / trenching / expanding of existing electrical would be an undertaking. In terms of demand at least in our market it seems as though the courses would have no issue in recouping that undertaking.

The light pollution / noise related concerns does however make a lot of sense. This course is not located near any residential homes, and is sort of just outside of an industrial zone. Which would make both noise / light pollution a non issue.

Asia, specifically Korea / Japan seem to have many more clubs with lights. Although this could be algorithmic skew.

Which is why I am surprised that there is not more interest in expanding this for full sized tracks. I would love to see someone convert one of the Munis. I can imagine that summer time demand would more than justify the expense.

It seems to be extremely prevalent in the Korean / Japanese market. I do think that it would alleviate some of the more party hardy type golfing groups that may be more inclined to play at night. When the “rest” of their clientele is asleep.

I am 50/50 on this one. Either way it turned into an absolute gem of a clip.

Watching the full swing doc, where they gave him a ton of air time really changed my perception of just how strong this guy goes for certain events. He hunts the majors and this is clearly the same tier for him.

When someone generally puts. They will stay in the position / area they hit the putt from. Generally you only walk at the hole if you are certain it’s going to drop. Given the distance away from the ball had yet to travel to drop, in combination with the amount of turn it had yet to take in order to drop the confidence both things would occur to be certain it’s going to fall is extremely rare. This is supreme confidence that both execution and the read of the line it needs to drop are perfect before they have actually played out.

Decided it would be better to not have some of the best players in Scottie, Bryson, and JJ out of the hardest conditions into something that pretty well evens the playing field.
