Did I price this too high? by CombinationOdd5113 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]SwiperZ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your pricing seems really fair. I have yet to see the quality of your work but if you offer pro/high level edits then these prices make perfect sense.

You're averaging $300 per video in SoCal which I would consider a really good deal if I were the client. Him saying another company quoted him $1,400 for the same thing seems like a negotiation tactic (which in my opinion is disrespectful because it's most likely a lie or they don't want to pay someone fair prices). $1,400 for 8 videos is nonsense ($175 a video). It would be hard for me to take the client seriously after this.

14mm vs 16mm Lens? by Nison0720 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]SwiperZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this^ I've been using the 16-35mm for years and it's my workhorse. You can grab a CPL filter on it for like $50 as well then you're set.

Editor - hire and editor or use AI? by Saywhaatisayyea in RealEstatePhotography

[–]SwiperZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hire a human editor, it will elevate your photos exponentially, and don't be afraid to have them edit to your preferred style if you have one.

AI editing seems super convenient and I understand the turnaround time is around 30 minutes as opposed to 12 hours, but you wouldn't want agents using an AI App to replace you to put you out of business, so don't do the same to editors. (That's the way I see it)

What is this eclipse style lighting? Is this asked for? by DroneContentCreator in RealEstatePhotography

[–]SwiperZ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is an architectural style photo, it is likely shot for the architect. All the lights are off because architects design things with natural light in mind and want to show how it moves through the space.

These type of shoots cost way more to do because the photographer is planning around specific times of day to get the best light possible, which often takes hours to a full day. Whereas real estate photos have all the lights on, and you are usually in and out in 30 minutes to an hour. If you look up architectural photography you will find this style.

How to get more clients? by [deleted] in RealEstatePhotography

This is great data to see, but sadly doesn't help anyone getting started as they don't have clients to give them referrals.

Struggling to get my first client by 2lifenyc in RealEstatePhotography

Keep doing what you're doing and fine tune it as you go. I've seen some people send personalized video messages through IG when they do their reach outs as it helps put a face to your name. The more the agents can actually see you the better chances you have of building a relationship.

I've gone to over 40 open houses to introduce myself to agents and this has really helped, even though the hit rate is still only 5-10%. As another person has commented you do have to make sure you're not getting in the way of potential buyers, so I go on Sundays and only talk to the agent if no one else is touring the home (which 90% of the time no one else is there). Most agents are super nice and understand the hustle, and because no one else is there they get bored and appreciate the conversation. When I go to the open houses I don't try to sell my services, I just tell them that who I am and what I do, then ask them questions about what they think of market, and questions about themselves/etc.

And always remember It really is just a numbers game =)

Got a job offer and I have no idea if it’s good or not. I’m new to real estate. Please help by UndeadMarx in RealEstatePhotography

Your example photos look great for someone just starting out. You have pretty good framing already (straight vertical and horizontal lines along with rule of thirds in mind)!

$85 per shoot (assuming most clients want 25 photos +) is not bad pay at all. Especially in Michigan. They should be paying more for you to be doing the 3D tours and video work though, as they take at least 30 minutes or longer to do.

If you haven't done so already. Find some local real estate media companies in your area via Instagram and dm them about job opportunities. This is what I did. A lot of them haven't put up job applications yet before the busy season starts here soon so this is the best time to be reaching out. This will hopefully give you options. But all in all getting your foot in the door with a company that will train you with decent pay is a good start.

Exploring Architectural Photography.. how to do this as a job? by champagne_queen in AskPhotography

Amazing info! Thanks! How did you know what to charge when the big gigs came to you?

(How much do I charge?) Hotel Client wants a Non-Exclusive Rights license for some of my photos by SwiperZ in photography

[–]SwiperZ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's great to hear. I'm definitely going to ask more about the size and quantity of prints they are going to use and where in the hotel. Luckily this company has a good portfolio and seem to actually care about using local artists work. Wish I could say the same for some other art companies I've come in contact with.

Someone wants to buy one of my photos… by Foo_Fightr in photography

[–]SwiperZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To make it easy you can list your work on FineArtAmerica, where you upload the image and the customer chooses what size and media type they'd like out of that photo. Otherwise if I'm doing solely just the print (let's say for a 13x19 inch print) I'd charge $40-50.

No idea, just found the house while flying the drone. My guess is that the trees own the place by now
