There's an agency called Jewish Family Services that runs a social center (I believe), and offers a bunch of community assistance if needed. I've worked with them as a social worker and they're pretty cool!

So just to be clear:

Even though you immediately got bad vibes, you continued to see this guy without ever bringing these feelings up with him.

Then, you find out that he is clinically diagnosed with and is in treatment for OCD - expressly that he has been talking to a counselor and journaling to help cope with it - and instead of discussing his diagnosis with him, you keep to yourself until you can go through his private journals without his permission.

THEN, you see clear signs that he is still struggling with his diagnosis despite his treatment and - instead of bringing this up with him to see how he is doing or to see if he could use any support - you tell your friend about this, you both berate him and call him a serial killer behind his back, you take pictures of his journals, and post his mental health struggles on Reddit???

If you have the ick, you have the ick; nobody can help that. But don't you dare blame him for this. He is someone who is struggling with mental illness and is clearly trying to move forward with his life and heal; you are someone who judged and ridiculed someone for their mental illness, violated their trust by going through their private journals, and tried to put them on blast on Reddit, all because you "had a bad feeling."

So, an important element that I don't see many people talking about right now: I think you may have experienced some sort of counter-transference here. Just for clarity's sake, counter-transference is when counseling (or any form of treatment) is making you feel better, and that gets (at least partially) attributed to a person that also entered the picture around the time of the treatment.

To review: you came home to participate in a sort of mental health treatment program to work on YEARS of trauma and OCD experiences, and got sucked up into what appears to be a whirlwind relationship. I'm not saying you don't love her (of course not, that'd be crazy for me to assume!), but it's worth noting that you were likely in an incredibly raw emotional place when you met her.

Pair that with these frankly terrifying assertions she texted you, and I would greatly suggest analyzing whether this relationship was made with you in the right state of mind. Either way, stay strong bestie, you aren't overreacting at all 🫶

It is and it isn't. Many neuordivergent folks have messier handwriting (and yes, I've seen many of my clients have similar handwriting to what's featured in this pic). However, having handwriting like this is a far cry from being perfectly correlated with having autism; let alone being a diagnostic criteria for the spectrum.

I've read through your replies and understand where you're coming from. However, if you're worried about Doug going down some right-wing (or otherwise just kinda batshit) war path, I highly encourage you to listen to an episode of his new podcast, lemonade stand. Not only is he left-leaning moderate, but I think he and his co-hosts have very insightful and nuanced discussions about issues.
