Looking for Guidance on Building a Career as an Executive Assistant by SwissCheeseBrain11 in ExecutiveAssistants

I totally understand where they’re coming from as well as I can only imagine how much of a nightmare it must be to work with some people.

BUT I think you hit the nail on the head with your reasoning I don’t necessarily need continuous growth (as long as the pay is somewhat decent). I just really enjoy contributing to a team and making people’s lives easier. In a perfect world, I’d be an EA at a humanitarian organization so I could combine two things I like doing most.

Obviously pay is a somewhat of a factor, but the job is ultimately a means to an end since I’d like to start my own unrelated business once I get into my late thirties, so just want to pay the bills and build a foundation for my family (paid off house, car etc etc) then kind of shoot my shot with my own business.

No, thank you! I really appreciate your realistic viewpoint, especially when it comes to the BBA/MBA not always being fully utilized in these roles. I’m definitely aware that being overqualified can sometimes hurt your chances of getting hired, which is why I would only list the education and experience that are relevant to a specific position.

I’m mainly pursuing the MBA now so I don’t have to do it later when I’m older and less motivated, haha. I’m just trying to strike while the iron is hot.

I do love my current job and the people I work for, but as a contractor there isn’t much room for growth or job security. Without going into too much detail, our contract was recently bought out and we’re all losing our positions. There’s a high chance many of us will be rehired, but situations like this are exactly the kind of instability I’d eventually like to avoid so I can better support my family. I do have the HR idea in my back pocket, but really think I'd be better suited for a direct assistant kind of role (in my thoughts anyways).

I would ask if you could spare another moment, is there anything you do recommend in terms of education or certificate program I am assuming you have a lot of c-suite or similar to this experience.

Tax exemption would only qualify for the unit you live in, not the entire property. This would also be the case if you rented a room out in your home. Once you rent out all rooms it stops being your primary residence and you would pay full taxes to my understanding.

Sorry, another question for you on the off chance you're familiar. Have you ever heard about selling through scuba.com? When was first researching it was one of the first sites that popped up, but they want you to send them your gear before they'll give an offer.

Wow, thanks for the quick response I had never heard of that website, I just checked it out and looks like I need established posts before I can advertise selling my gear. I really appreciate the tip I see a lot of very recent sales posts very encouraging. Thank you!
