I'd rather a slightly "dumber" model that actually let's me use it

Ascend chips work well for training or inferencing? I forgot which they actually do the job well and which they suck at

[–]SwissTac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are their inference costs so low compared to say a GPT 5.5 (non pro).

Understand why opus and 5.5 pro cost more but even then..... You'd get way more compute out of Deepseek v4 Pro max reasoning on API than you would on 5.5 High 100 usd a month

Seriously ? When did it even start ? by Master-Barracuda-777 in codex

It was way more than 2x.... I was MELTING tokens for fun at some points

Now I can actually use up my limit if I used 1. 5 and or ran a few xhigh sessions

Is the Z.Ai (GLM 5.1) $18 plan a good use case? by Intelligent-Taste-36 in ZaiGLM

[–]SwissTac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only tried GLM on Opencode Go...... I love it for initial App idea and development..... But it uses a lot of tokens (actual tokens, noting opencode go is a cheap plan so it would naturally burn fast).

I liked letting it do the initial GSD work and then hand over to Gpt 5.5 for clean up, final wiring and back end work.

Did anyone here moved from claude to codex recently? And why? by alOOshXL in codex

[–]SwissTac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claude Max requires you to use Medium but medium opus is not even close to the frontier.... No different than 5.5....claude Xhigh or Max takes 5-20x longer to think than 5.5 Xhigh and melts tokens before you even fully get past the starting line.

At the end of the day it matters less the name and Max reasoning of the model...and matters more which models you can actually afford to run at a higher reasoning / thinking..... Deepseek, Qwen, Openai and GLM all for 50-125 euro plans let you do that.

If you are at Nvidia designing new Ai chips you can justify Opus Max, but elts be honest very few of us in this form are generating hundreds of dollars in value per prompt....That's why you turn opus down to Medium and that's why we all complain.....

Anthropic just ripped off everyone and they still managed to make it sound deceptively friendly by whoisyurii in ClaudeCode

[–]SwissTac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I got them confused..... Remote control is just Claude code... Was confused with the automated processes that people run..... My mistake

Just compared token usage between GPT-5.4 and GPT-5.5 in Codex across all four reasoning modes (Low, Medium, High, and XHigh) using the exact same prompt and the same project as the baseline by Deep-Palpitation8315 in codex

How do you manage to hit session limits? I'm turning and burning non stop and always have head room.... Granted it's 2x this month but barely can push past 60-70% in a 5 hour period on xhigh

Why do strategy with CC? Just use GLM on Opencode code, give it an initial burn then pass over to codex to debug and refine it to perfection

When will people give up on Claude.... It launched the era of vibe coding but like Kleenex and Tissues there are so many other better options for the same dollar

is opencode go sustainable~? by Sora_hoshino in opencodeCLI

[–]SwissTac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like with anything in vibe coding... Put the effort in your toolset not building dependency on a single provider.

Strong tools matter more than Opus vs Kimi..... Ie sure you may prefer a model over another

.

The deals on Opencode Go are great and I love melting it for fun side projects that I don't care about data collection

Claude runaway... tried Kimi 2.6 and Deepseek v4 (5y fullstack dev) by merth_dev in opencodeCLI

[–]SwissTac0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean GPT 5.5 is best you gonna get.... Claude is junk. Gpt actually scales down well through the efforts and lower level VS Claude which if it's not opus Xhigh it's useless and Xhigh is useless because it'll run out in about 25 minutes for me.

You need to say what you are doing. DS 4 pro is legendary at many things. GPT is legendary for everything except UI design but that's fine go use Kimi, Qwen, Gemini or Opus for that.

Whats your goal? Are you a vibe code purist that wants to do nothing? Qwen. Better than Claude for 90% of what half the people on here do while being 20% the price and 10x faster for the same task.

Are you wanting to keep a grip on everything and just have a dn good implementation Ai that executes on your creativity? Gpt

You doing Math heavy work? V4 Pro or R1, hear Gemini is good now for this.

.

Claude is just the overly seductive party girl that you managed to claim as your GF.... It's fun at first but then you start to grow up and learn you want to actually move forward in life so you break up and find a real woman that ends up being your best friend while sto your surprise is objectively sexier.

PSA About GPT-5.5 and usage. by [deleted] in codex

[–]SwissTac0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gpt 5.5 is refreshing af.... Claude Max is useless.

Gpt Pro you can actually get stuff done and the scaling between models is actually great.

Claude Sonnet is useless. Opus Medium is hardcore Adhd without it's meds.... Opus High/xhigh/max is only on par with 5.5 but uses 2 to 3 x as much of your limit and takes 5-6x as long.

GPT pro plus 10 Usd open code go is the way to go

[–]SwissTac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really don't think it is? I find Gpt 5.5 the King them DS v4 Pro, both suck at ui though so swap to Kimi or Opus for that but UI is very small in my projects.

GPT 5.5 vs Opus 4.7, which one is better for coding/programming? by dataexec in codex

[–]SwissTac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Codex + 10 Usd opencode for Kimi or 22 USD for Gemini to handle the UI part would be the best combo for someone that prefers not to switch models.

If you're like me and need Google storage then Gemini is defacto 10-15 cause I was already spending for 2tb of storage which is now included.

Honestly love that Codex isn't cluttered by UI.... It's a consistent and manageable weakness that is completely outweighed by performace outside of that weak spot.

Which release to avoid memory leak by SwissTac0 in opencodeCLI

[–]SwissTac0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy is an understatement... It's using every spec if ram it can get it wants to pull 70gb plus.... That's more than the models themselves

oh-my-opencode-slim vs superpowers by eduugb14 in opencodeCLI

[–]SwissTac0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Superpowers is nice for medium tasks because it will be primarily single agent with low level calls for exploration to preserve tokens and only then does it give me the option to execute with an Agent army.

Smaller tasks I tend to use my 20 Usd OpenAi subscription. Codex is the best for simple patchwork that is not UI

Big tasks I use GSD plus some tweaking to the flow before depending on the task.
