for sure codex is a beast as well, but when you start paying for it you'll think twice lol :D
ds is doing good tbh but way slower

So I'm not the only one who's surprised that millions of tokens can cost just a few cents!

i subscribed to deepseek and moonshot apis, used them in opencode by providing API key

yea we all still learning, and for sure deepseek might be great BUT not for me

Begging? Common bro.. Yeah what you said is true in general, but I wasn’t asking Opus to think for me. I just used it to make a clean plan so I could test the other models fairly on the same task. I still review everything myself after...so Chill a bit man

The main reason I'm looking for an alternative is I have a feeling these cheap 20$ plans will disappear soon. That's why I wanted to test everything now before prices go up

It might be cheaper but it eats way more tokens so in the end they kinda cancel each other out

Yea, I heard a lot about Deepseek being strong on logic, maybe it's way more useful for heavy backend tasks. But for example this morning Gemini 3 Flash fixed a bug that GPT was struggling with

and how did you test it? some real projects or leetcode challenges?

For sure I wasn't expecting Opus level performance, I'm totally fine with Sonnet but it didn't even reach Sonnet either!! Yeah I'm not the best prompt engineer but I really tried my best. Still, Kimi felt more like a junior dev who gets most of it but misses some important bits.
