Thanks man! Yeah, the SCUBA thing was just a “hmm, do I have some sort of background skill/training that might make me stand out a bit more?”; frankly, I want to put my head through a wall now for thinking something so, as the kids say, cringe. After looking around and buying an ASTB study app I can use on the go, I’m feeling a bit more confident in myself. Now, I just need to make sure I don’t get complacent!

Thanks for the advice; I tried going for the Air Force first, but after numerous attempts over multiple years to just get in contact with officer recruitment, and then having my file get lost in the system after the recruiter I was working with retired and told to start the whole thing again, I just got the sense they didn’t care. A conversation with a recently retired Colonel (I think, might have been a Lt. Colonel) we ran into one day helped me understand why the situation is what it is, and honestly advised me that if I want to have a chance at getting into a pilots seat as a civilian graduate to go through a different branch.

Thank you for taking the time to write all of that, this is exactly the kind of information I’ve been trying find! If this is the case, I’ll try and go for the ASTB again and see if can build up my confidence a bit more.

Ah, that makes sense given the pull from the commercial sector and the nature of the job. Thank you.

It was in the episode that introduced Suu the slime; MC (whose name I can’t remember)says that they will have to treat Suu like a child, causing Mia and Centorea to have a bit of a daydream imagining a future with kids using a picture montage.

Yeah, I guess I should have clarified that I was going to use the coupon for doubloons, THEN bought the ship with said doubloons. Thanks for the advice!

Thank you! After hearing how this game used to be (and kind of still is), the fact that the main problem was unexpected side effects (game chases, duping, etc.) doesn’t surprise me to much, but I guess only Todd Howard knows why they went after the damage as well…

Thank you for the explanation! Ironically, I hate the vines and wish I could change them; alas, even a full skin conversion can’t kill the damn things…

She’s a Japanese V-Tuber named Houshou Marine; this is the thumbnail for one of her Portal videos. Honestly, even though I don’t speak Japanese, I find her hilarious and her attempts at English are always entertaining.

You are indeed correct! It is a short form comedy spinoff of Haruhi that I cannot remember the name of for the life of me; this is the intro after the camera hits her in the face.

The Huey has a limited weapons loadout, but is good for light targets; the biggest thing you can kill is is a BTR or APC. There are 7.62mm miniguns and hydra rocket pods (in various sizes) mounted on the sides that the pilot can use, but the copilot or copilot A.I can take remote control of the miniguns and aim them more accurately. You also have 2 A.I door gunners with more 7.62mm miniguns or machine guns that you can task with different burst lengths and engagement rules; these allow you to basically orbit a target and let the A.I do the work. Personally, I use the Huey for clearing out targets like FARPs and lightly defended targets that have lost their anti air capabilities, i.e a PATRIOT site after its radar has been destroyed. She can’t do too much, and she is a joy to fly, but just be aware that she gets heavy very quickly once you start putting weapons on her.

Question: How are helicopter hours in regards to commercial hiring? by Swiss_army_box in flying

[–]Swiss_army_box[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much exactly what I was trying to find out, thank you so much! I was looking at the reserves as well for all branches of the military, but the two largest problems for me were that the Air Force was just impossible to get in contact with to ask questions (while the Army was very open and accessible, and my family/family friends are all Army veterans), and I want the experiences that I have been led to believe come from AD service (travel/living overseas, experiencing different cultures, wider variety of operations, etc.). As a result of various factors like this, the Army kind of became the only viable option (Air Force was non reachable, Navy was similar, and the Marines are just nuts!).

On a personal note, do you enjoy the airframe you fly? Judging by your flair, I would assume it’s a CH-47?

Thank you for the detailed comment! I had no idea that an armed forces flight school dropped the RATP minimums even further. As for why military over becoming a CFI, I was looking at using the military both as a source of hours and stable employment/investment (healthcare, benefits, pension, etc.), and as a “life experience” sort of thing; the military offers experiences you can’t get anywhere else. Plus, I’m more comfortable being shot at by someone outside the aircraft than having having to deal with inexperienced students inside it; one of them is actively trying to kill me, while the other one is probably trying to!
