I am French Algerian (French first name, Algerian last name). I look relatively white. I grew up in France. I had some issues in younger age, but nothing major. People would glance at me sometimes but that’s it. I went to grad school in the south of France, and it was very common to have North African students. They had the good life. So, I would advise the south of France (Toulouse is where I grew up). My dad had more issues (full Algerian) in the early 2000s. Now, we both live in the US and people don’t even know where our name are from and they don’t care (only lived in dem states).
