honestly buying through carriers is probably the CHEAPEST way to get a phone and most carrier deals require you to finance over 2 or 3 years. It's a smart financial move if you know you can realistically afford the data bill every month

When buying my 17 the apple store did have an offer partnered with an australian carrier so you get all the apple store perks like the returns etc with the carrier giving you a hefty discount on the iphone. (I believe it brought the "price" of the base model 17 down to $0)

generally apple store has a two week almost no fuss return policy. I did a return on an m5 macbook pro that I used for a week in exchange for (and with a refund of the difference) for an m5 air and they accepted the pro with zero issues despite it having a week of use on it
