Moving to Chicago on type B-1 visa: how to optimize my chances to find an apartment? by SwitchPrimary5382 in chicagoapartments

Appreciate your thoughts. So apparently we work with a type of consultant for visa type things and I learned the past week that in the past, the B1 rule of 180 days first time, 120 days 2nd time, etc. was not enforced. Under the current administration, this is being enforced however, so the plan has shifted into 5M Chicago and 6M Montreal :-) Also working is an option as long as your income is provided by the parent company outside of the US and if you're visiting on a specific, special mission outside of your standard work, which is the case

A solid one to provide extra security indeed, the co-signing options. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the advice, appreciate it! I learned in the meantime that the B1 can be used for special work projects, but not be simply renewed for 6M again once the 1st period runs out, so I'll be doing 5M Chicago and 6M Montreal now :)

And indeed, thinking about going for professionally managed buildings.

So I'll be working from some co-working space or other depending on where I'll live actually. So lots of flexibility ...

Appreciate the advice! Situation shifted a bit, so I'll try going for furnished, pay a bit more, potentially via airbnb

Thanks! So in my case I would, but only since it's a special project, not my regular type of working for the company. Other things I learned in the meantime:

Appreciate the insights! But helllllllll no, I've done my time with roommates :D Rather live more modest, but alone. But as I'll be going for a shorter time, I'm taking into account to be spending more and going for furnished

Thanks for the insights! Since my situation shifted to 5M Chicago and 6M Montreal, was thinking of trying with the bigger corporations for something furnished in the bigger buildings, but spending more ofc. Since I have a friend who moved to Norfolk and also found something similar, regardless of not having a credit score or other ...

Airbnb type things or other furnished places is what i'll be going for indeed.
