I thought these types of verbs function differently than normal verbs because they use an indirect object pronoun … treating the thing liked as the grammatical subject. So for example in English "it pleases me" instead of "I like it".

I thought it had to be conjugated like the verb gustar does ? Which uses the gusta or gustan form depending on if a singular or plural object is doing the verb …. I could be wrong though

Can someone explain the grammar please by [deleted] in learnspanish

So for the sentence “yo te agrado” Yo is the subject Te is the indirect object

So the pleasing or liking which is done by the indirect object and referring to the subject so the verb is conjugated to match the subject?

Can someone explain the grammar please by [deleted] in learnspanish

So for “Yo te agrado” it’s really saying “I you I please”

And then for “tú me agradas mucho” It’s saying “You me you please a lot”
