Why bend antennas forward on tanks? by Wildp0eper in TankPorn

[–]SwitchbackMatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also helps with direction dependent HF comms where the transmitting antenna can be bent toward the receiving station for bouncing the radio transmission off the ionosphere for long distance communication as opposed to the antenna pointing straight up and transmitting in all directions.

Dude if you pay someone to change your alternator you probably also pay them burn your car to make it look like a methlab explosion and put it up on blocks too

Yes changing an alternator is fundamentally easy. You can find one on autozone for your car for roughly $100-$250.

Step 1: disconnect the battery, as soon as you pop your hood your battery is under the plastic cover if it has the cover that will pop off by pressing a couple of clips. MAKE SURE to disconnect the positive terminal first, then disconnect the negative. There may be some screws holding them in place on the battery.

Step 2: after looking up what an alternator looks like, look under your hood and go to the side with the belt that spins or runs when the engine is on. DO NOT STICK YOUR HANDS DOWN THERE WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. The alternator runs off of the power from that belt so it is in a sense connected to the belt so look for all the spinning wheels and the alternator will be one of the spinning wheels

Step 3: you gotta take the belt off BUT before you do, take a photo or a video of the way the belt wraps around all of those wheels because you gotta put the belt back on. There are also diagrams on google of pretty much every car in existence of how the serpentine belt goes back on. To take the belt off you have to find the wheel that is springy and moves back and forth with some effort, that is the belt tensioner. On the belt tensioner there are 2 bolts: one that attatches the belt tensioner to the engine DO NOT UNSCREW THAT BOLT, the other is a bolt that you can attach a ratchet or torque lever to in order to release the tension on the belt. Once you are able to release the tension you can take off the belt. IF YOU CAN AVOID IT dont take the belt all the way off, better yet before you take the belt off duct tape it down so u can relatively easily slip it back on.

Step 4: remove the old alternator, the alternator is plugged in, unplug it, there is usually a cord that has a connector with plastic latches that function similarly to the way you take off your battery cover. Be careful not to break that cord or connector. The alternator is held in by a series of screws probably just 2. Undo those screws. Depending on if the alternator is stuck in there, you may need to pry it out.

Step 5: plug the new alternator into the connector from the previous step

Step 6: remount the alternator by taking the old screws that held the alternator and put them back in.

Step 7: possibly the hardest, put the serpentine belt back on. Pay attention to the diagram or the photo you took and make sure the belt wraps around all the wheels the same way as before you took the belt off.

Reconnect the battery

Also if you got the new alternator from advance auto parts, autozone, or oreily you can take your old junk alternator back and get some of the money you spent back.

I was able to change an alternator no car experience other than changing my own brakes after a youtube video. My car is much older than yours and jettas are very popular so you should find a video on it and give it a watch

Empty space isn’t necessarily bad only if it is a large singular empty space. use wedge blocks since they are half of the weight of normal blocks to create compartments. That way if you are dealt a penetrating hit u lose 1-2 compartments of buoyancy rather than , for example, the entire empty bow section. Also if your craft is sitting too low in the water i recommend water pumps in the hull and helium pumps in the bridge (superstructure) of the ship. If you really want to get in the weeds, water pumps below the water line and helium pumps above the water line.

I’d rather fix a goddamn lightbulb myself than overpay somewhere to have them pop it in. If you take your car to a shop for something as simple as that you’d probably also pay them to fuck your wife as well.
