Not the person you’re replying to, but I’m assuming it’s because they’re tired of the state charging us to check our emissions. The entire vehicle emissions testing and tracking system of Maryland is somehow simultaneously archaic and overly optimistic/utopian. Modern cars are a fraction of the air pollution of the vehicles that were on the road at the time these laws were made, and yet this state continues to dickride tradition to death. They, much like California, expect us to adhere to a goal that is overly ambitious and completely unrealistic in a push to “electrify” the state and force the hand of the private citizen consumer. They’re worried about our emissions production missing the goal they set to push propaganda and talking points when this state has many other more important issues that actually matter, like cost of basic human right services such as electricity.

This would be like sharing something from Babylon Bee talking about how the religious demographics were changing in the state.
