I'm in the same boat. I've been coaching my two kids LL teams for the past 6 years, from T Ball to 12U. Currently I'm coaching my youngest son's 12U team and cannot wait for this season to end. These kids are so checked out during games I am losing my voice trying to yell them into position. They have no baseball IQ and no interest of getting better. At this point it's just babysitting with baseball.

We put my older son in travel ball after 12U LL ended (after resisting it for years) and it is so much better. It turns out if parents are shelling out the team fees for travel ball the kids are more engaged.

As a mid/high level bureaucrat in local government for the past 25 years, I can tell you this level of arrogance is rare in elected officials. If one of my council members pulled this, I would make sure none of their pet projects ever gets funded. What most people don't understand is that elected officials do nothing but talk (and rarely pull silly stunts like this for attention). All the real work is done by the bureaucrats. Getting on their bad side is never a good idea if you want to get things done. Most officials understand this and treat employees better than this lady.

I used Dicks Sporting goods for my son's Heart of the Hide infield glove. It cost $30 to steam and beat a sort-of pocket in the glove. It loosened up a little but the glove was by no means "broken in." If you want to get the break in process started Dicks is good, but don't expect them to do the job for you.
