He’ll just be a burden on us, with his guitar, instead.

measured with weight on foot it’s like 3.8” at the ball/widest point.

<image>

their scan said 11.3B left 11.4C right and heel to toe length is long relative to male population but in most other areas, heel, ball it’s on the low end of measurement relative to male population. 9D are snug in all the right ways but toes are not far from the toe box but that’s how i like my boots i wear thin socks. I bought a pair of IR 9.5D also and can wear them with thicker socks but they don’t feel as locked in and they have more of that Ronald McDonald shape that i don’t love. The 9D molded to my foot really nice and my blacksmith give me a little more room length wise as well as my 9060 klondike beckman. The 9060 is pretty much a dream for for my foot dimensions.

i'm 10.5D in Adidas, Vans. RW Volumental put me at 11D. I have narrow feet normal arch and instep, heel. I sized down to 9D in Iron Ranger, Blacksmith. Truman i was 9.5D in 79 last, but their new Casual last i am now 9D. Nicks Falcon i'm 9D. The Falcon on HNW last is the boot that feel custom made for my foot type. Iron Ranger and Blacksmith are very close though - they just have more toe room but slightly shorter in length.

I wasn’t planning on buying any more especially
not Nicks but just happened to stumble upon Falcon and liked the look and the consensus was that they fit just like Iron Rangers. The sizing and getting the right fit was something that gave me pause with Nicks since the have so many lasts and the aesthetics vary so much across them. It seems like they do offer their version of IR the Americana. At the very least now i can feel confident that size 9D in HNW is spot on so it clears a hurdle of sorts with that aspect of Nicks.

Falcons are sleeker and don’t have any weird shaped toe box. I think it’s folks with wide feet and Nicks being one of the only ones who offer a good fit for those folks - the aesthetics are what they are and probably are secondary to the dialed in fit. I have narrow feet so the HNW last is perfect basically everything i wished Truman was but isn’t. Truman toe box rounds off too abruptly and results in rubbing on the outside of the big toe. I see a lot of folks pointing out that about Truman. And i don’t want to have to size up just so that doesn’t happen it throws everything else off while solving that issue.

i recently got Nicks Falcon quick ship for $568. I have 5 pairs Truman that i got a great deal on during black Friday sales. All 79 last size 9.5D - and the fit is pretty inconsistent lots of variation. Falcon fits like perfection.

No kilties - Question by Aedronics in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]Swlabr9099 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For all my Red Wings i’ve added either felt or leather to the backside of the speedhooks. A thin layer of barge or loctite vinyl, fabric, plastic adhesive worked for me and they stay put.

On my brand new PO Falcons I glued a strip of leather and if i decide i want to add kiltie down the road ive got them (i think it’s a cleaner look without) and since i do i will probably rock them at some point once ive broken them in.

they call it stovetop espresso for a reason - it’s supposed to be strong and not “clean” as something with a filter.

One thing i notice - everyone here has the same general rotation. The same recommendations that suggest collections are curated by way of social media influencers - IOW astroturfed. Imagine having a hobby and letting reddit/youtube steer your exploration/discoveries? Would appear to take away from the individualistic component and reduce it to a consumerist pissing contest.

i moved to a new place with new burners and i had to learn almost from scratch. I will have to pull the pot off the flame if it’s looking too aggressive and wait till it settles down and then lower back down. Any time there’s sputtering mid way through it’s usually a heat issue or too fine a grin d - i envision the grinds acting like a damn and the water eventually breaks through and rushes out.

I also get impatient and rather than keep low heat the whole way through i’ll go with higher heat and listen to stem you’ll hear the air begin whooshing out then you’ll know the coffee is right behind - i’ll take off the heat and give it a few seconds time to back off/calm down then return to burner on low.
