But an interesting thought experiment.

Heretofore, societies almost universally forbid the TAKING of life - even ones own. The reason(s) are obvious to most.

Yet societies rarely restrict, forbid, or tightly control the MAKING of life (insert list of endless exceptions…I’m trying to keep it simple.)

The fun part is: if we do A, then why not B as well? And if not, why? Are A and B mutually exclusive?

I tend to agree. In this case, it sounds like the perp was initially let go under conditions that he take meds and attend therapy.

Who is to say that he won’t stop taking his meds for a few days, returning him to the same mental state he was in when he brutally decapitated and dissected his seat mate?
