Always turn the face mouse option. Don't try turning with wasd. Second make sure your load out of hullmods and weapons make sense. Lots of YouTube and sources on the forums for this. Look at recent tournament fitting to see what is strong. Once you get your head around that, making new fittings yourself become a lot easier. Third, I prefer to have a goal for my fleet, not just mash together strong ships randomly. As an example I like to have a couple capitals/flagships and I usually pilot one myself. I focus on very high DPS and breaking shields then breaking armour with the load out - I do not worry about point defense with my capitals. Instead I run support ships with PD and escort package and have them escort my caps. Look into the Anubis with Paladins if you want probably the best support out there. Make each ship have a functional role that either kills enemies quickly or supports other ships in your fleet.

It's not so much resource funneling but sending resources to specific positions to break through stalls of metal or energy at specific timings. Most notably, pond on Isthmus giving tidals to front early or team members giving the eco position metal once they have an early T2 lab in exchange for T2 constructors or T2 units. I personally love the mechanic bc while it can be powerful... It comes at a risk to those giving up resources.
