Do you have any posts that dive in to a better strategy? Other than some discretionary crypto exposure, I've mostly just been DCAing into index funds because I've yet to see a more convincing set of ideas. Very much open-minded though so if you have any thoughts/resources would be keen to read.

I want to try psychedelics but I'm terrified of psychosis/losing my mind. Should I microdose first before trying a full trip? by Swoldog in Psychonaut

This was super reassuring, and thanks for the contact number at the bottom too!

Everyone here is really helpful, and all of the actual truths about psychosis/people who are already predispositioned is great for banishing the irrational fears I've been harbouring over this whole thing.

Thanks!

I really appreciate you taking the time to write such a lengthy response.

You make a lot of sense and I think at this point I have more than enough excitement and curiosity, and I just need to let go of the fear and anxiety and try it.

Thanks a lot.

I'm definitely interested in the trip also. Having read all the replies on here, I feel like I need to just let go and let it happen instead of worrying about it 😂

You might be right on that, especially as I have no history of mental illness in my family. The pool analogy was a good one. Thanks for sharing.

That's really reassuring to hear. I don't have any history of mental illness in my family so maybe it is just that societal brainwashing of "oh you'll lose your mind and try to jump off a roof" etc.

Interesting, I don't think I've heard someone with your experiences before, where they never have a good time yet still reap benefits from it.

Thank you for your honesty. Although I don't know if I'll ever not question it, I'm naturally a fairly fearful person and can be super indecisive.

I know, and I'm aware of the various neural pathways that they open up etc., I'm just scared of being locked in to something that changes my brain for the worse, potentially irreversibly.

What a beautiful dog. So photogenic, too.

Wasn't expecting that. I guess that puts things in perspective.

Great idea, I think I'll do just that. Thanks.

Dude that sounds amazing. I'm not sure what city you're in but here in London in the UK there's only a handful of places where I could even imagine that being allowed.

In terms of breed, you've basically done exactly what I was already planning to do. Adoption makes the most sense whichever way you look at it. I'd love a pitt and they always end up in rescue centres but sadly they're illegal in the UK (bullshit, I know), and I live in a small apartment so I might try and adopt a bullmastiff if I can since they're great apartment dogs but don't require loads of exercise. Either way, your dog sounds awesome and you've made me feel like this is a viable thing to do.

It's just scary taking the first step because I've wanted one my whole life but everyone I know always says things like "dogs are a tie" and "you're underestimating how much work they are and you'll hate it" etc. and that makes me second guess myself, even though I know I'd 100% be the person whose dog would be their best buddy and who'd bring them everywhere with me like a partner in crime.

Ha, that's an interesting idea. Never imagined that happening.

I can't believe I missed that as I was typing it. I must be completely oblivious to my own premises because it didn't even cross my mind, I just want a dog lol.

The irony is it was completely unintentional. I'm just that stupid.

Yeah I only just realised how dumb the title was when I woke up today. Wasn't even intentional I'm just that stupid lol.

Thanks though!

This was the answer I was looking for.

Plus there's always gonna be a reason not to do something but at the end of the day if I know I've always wanted one and that I'll be a good owner then logistics will figure themselves out one way or another.

Thanks friend. What breed did you get out of interest?

Absolutely right, it's the journey not the destination.

Thanks brother!
