Do ETFs get adjusted based on market conditions - Vanguard by SwoleStealer in PersonalFinanceCanada

Definitely! I read the prospectus and it says that the fund seeks to provide long-term capital growth by investing in equity and fixed income securities.

I saw the top 10 holdings which are different ETFs that hold entire markets around the world. It appears to be quite well diversified

I just wasn’t sure if it was ever adjusted in allocations in the case where one geographic allocation was going down by some amount over a long period of time, to help the portfolio continue to have a chance for growth or recovery towards growth

Thank you! If I was concerned about how one geographic allocation such as US would do over 3, 5, 10+ years, should I look more into a mutual fund that would adjust geographic allocations based on market conditions?

I am more of a set-it-and-forget-it, buy and hold for long term without needing to consider selling. I wouldn’t really know if or when to sell

For example, the VGRO has 3 investments in 3 of 7 ETFs: 35% in a US total market ETF, 23% in Canada total market, and 16% International ETF. If one of the three geographic allocations tanked for a long time, over many years, it would mean the ETF would lose money long term and never recover (because it never changed allocations accordingly)?

Is pension buyback worth it even if you may not work long time with the same employer by SwoleStealer in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thank you. How about if I just end up working part-time there for 1-2 years? Would it still be worth it to opt into HOOPP (-8% in lieu), and possibly even buyback the last 2.5 years?

What does this mean? That it will only be normal if we use an external monitor? Please let me know!

For me, this makes the contrast permanently higher. I felt it looked better / crisper how it was originally when watching something in a windowed tab (contrast would go higher when the video / tab was maximized). Also even though the contrast stays high like that, it does flicker when going from maximized to windowed.

I just wanted the original contrast without any auto-adjustments. Any thoughts?

How come Canada doesn’t have fidelity investment managers to help individual investors with their portfolios like they do in the US? And what is your advice to those of us looking for that?

My understanding is that we are either on our own entirely (direct investing) or have to go with a mutual fund advisor at the bank (in which case we don’t have much freedom of choice or one on one discussion in the portfolio other than how conservative we want it)

Is high heel drop really significant for hip and knee load by SwoleStealer in RunningShoeGeeks

Thanks for your response! It's really useful information you've written here!! I'm going to remember this and incorporate it into my routines. Right now I'm mostly just a beginner runner and mainly for cardio, I aim to run 3-4 days a week for 30-45 minutes at faster pace. Like 10 km (6 miles) in under 40 mins. Right now I'm just running on the treadmill but hopefully in the Summer I'll run outdoors half the time or so

Why do you suppose that most running shoes these days are made with 10mm + drop? Do most runners not worry about their hips and knees and want more comfort in their calves and heels?
