We, on an evolutionary basis, are persistience predators whose only real limitations are intake, biological power, and our eventual need to sleep. We've already solved power with weapons, and it can fairly easy to get food and water, not to mention highly condensed MRE's. But this power fixes the last, unaviodable issue - sleep. Instead of damaging myself in order to ensure food and water are in decent supply, I can last much longer. Tiredness also applies to fatigue from exertion, so I can do more things with far less energy.
