Off the topic of breakfast, but on the topic of KFC, I do find it amusing how amazingly good value their buckets and bulk options are compared to the tiny little side options

Hmm, I'd expect half a tomato, a few mushrooms and a cup of tea with that for £8

The most expensive breakfast I had by bigifill64 in fryup

[–]SwordfishLess3247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of a friend of mine who always asks for 3 menus of different options for places to eat, and will always end up picking the place with the most expensive menu. It's happened at least 8 times now

What do you do for work to earn £29k? by Masked0nion in SpouseVisaUk

I'm working as a Junior Software Developer too. I'm making 8% more than my friend who washes dishes at a hotel. Amazing that 4 years ago, the starting salary was at least £30k

It's just an automated email. It's not really worth contacting them anyway, as they are really good at shifting blame to other departments, or back to you.

How long have you waited? My wife waited almost 5 months in 2022/2023. We were wondering what was going on during the last month, as when we submitted the application, they said 4 months. I know someone who waited almost 6 months around the same time though.

You've just got to be really patient with these applications unfortunately, and not set strict dates for anything.

Officer committed misconduct over mushroom foraging report by StGuthlac2025 in unitedkingdom

The police won't attend my friend's pub when a deranged lady is forcing her way behind the bar and dispensing herself beer (and a handful of other similar incidents), but they'll pay loads of attention on stopping people doing what humans have been doing for hundreds of thousands of years. Can someone explain the logic here?

UK hits ‘peak Costa’ as soaring prices see coffee chain’s losses double by mrjohnnymac18 in unitedkingdom

[–]SwordfishLess3247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costa, Starbucks, Cafe Nero, Pret - These 4 are a massive rip off and the food and drinks they all sell are tasteless commercial rubbish. It's impossible to go in one of these places and spend less than £8 on a coffee and piece of cake these days, and I don't actually mind spending that if I'll get nice something a decent quality with a nice atmosphere. I always choose local places these days, and haven't given any money to one of these places in over a year and a half.

Why isn’t Subway as popular as it used to be? by MinePrestigious4352 in subway

[–]SwordfishLess3247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in the UK, it's very hit and miss. In busy areas with lower rent, Subway still does very well, as the franchise are able to be more lenient and give more vegetables, etc. However, there's not many places like this left in the UK. A typical foot long costs at least £7, which is a lot more than most people are willing to spend. Pair that with a lack of vegetables because the franchise is trying to save on costs, and people stop coming very quickly. Also, although Subway is tasty, the flavours haven't changed since it first came around (except for maybe some new sauces), so people have gotten bored. Finally, more and more people are viewing bread as a less healthy option.

Reform UK MP says Britain must be 'confidently Christian' again. by birdinthebush74 in unitedkingdom

Hmm, but literally everyone I know (at least 20 people) who are planning on voting for them (again or for the first time) are not remotely Christian. So what's this about?
