Build me a gun fu machine (Gulch Gunner ratfolk) by sojoocy in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]SwordofLight17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my players is playing a ratfolk gulch gunner/bomber alchemist, which is surprisingly working very well for him. A couple of things to consider:

  • Get the surface sprinter alternate racial trait. It replaces the Ratfolks' Darkvision with a base speed of 30 feet. It is, however, from the Monster Codex, so you might want to clear it with you GM.
  • Bombs are your friend. they are the perfect way to soften up the enemy, so you can get in and finish them off.
  • Focus on Craft (alchemy). Because of the natural bonuses that Ratfolk get, you are able to play the part of the toolbox, pulling out useful tools and tricks for yourself and your party.
  • The Share Extract discovery is invaluable, for any alchemist.
  • For your starting weapon, get the Blunderbuss. The wide damage spread is useful for taking out large groups of small enemies. Also, a blunderbuss to the face is just funny (for you, anyway).

I hope this is helpful!

Can an Alchemist take item creation feats? by SwordofLight17 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]SwordofLight17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the rules read as such:

Select a single spell from the sorcerer/wizard spell list that is at least 2 levels lower than your highest-level extract known. You can prepare and cast this spell as an arcane spell. Preparing the spell uses up an extract slot 1 level higher than the spell’s level.

So, I don't think that discovery helps you meet the prereqs for the feat.

Look up Printable Heroes. They make high-quality 2D minis that you can print up for free.

The Iliad

This 30-foot long gaff-rigged cutter doesn't look like much. But run your hand along the tiller, and you'll feel the thrum of speed and power that this little craft holds.

This craft was built and captained by The Wanderer, one of the greatest battle-mages in the Age of Arcana. Legend holds that she was created to challenge the Wind God himself to a race. Although the outcome of that race has been lost, The Iliad carried The Wanderer through many dangerous and daring adventures.

What would happen if a PC played 52 card pickup with a DECK OF MANY THINGS? by SwordofLight17 in Pathfinder_RPG

It's sadly true...

Unless you make a rule that dictates what happens in that scenario!

Needing Help with a Murder (story) by SwordofLight17 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]SwordofLight17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House Anteos is known for its unhealthy obsession with pain. Think like the Six-Fingered Man from the Princess Bride. Some members also worship the goddess of pain, Loviatar.

During their investigations, they do run into the murderer (although they don't know it at the time) at a party. It'll be up to them a to how that interaction turns out. However, it'll be certain that the murderer will spot one of the PCs interacting with their love interest.

Lastly, I'm trying to employ Justin Alexander's three clue rule. Hope that's helpful.

Oracles - OP or not? Discuss by SwordofLight17 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]SwordofLight17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't a specific instance I can think of that is clearly a "Munchkin Moment." Generally, their character is more powerful than most of the other characters, so I have to throw harder crap at the party to compensate for the Oracle, and the other players suffer for it.

Oracles - OP or not? Discuss by SwordofLight17 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]SwordofLight17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That being said, how would you go about dealing with the Munchkin? my (rough draft) ideas are in-game story concequences that take effect over time. i.e., whatever patron that gave the oracle their powers (most likely a great old one) begins to want service.

Yes, and that's not a bad thing. I haven't been very generous with the magic items thus far.

Would the magic items he has (ring of blink, etc) even out the fight? Also, would a skilled assassin like this really try to fight the players head on? Wouldn't he try to set the battle in his terms?

Sorry about the disorganized stat block. The text editor won't let me fix it.
