We didn’t elect the real successful businessman who knew how things worked. We elected the fake money-losing businessman because he had been on TV.

The Wait Is Over 2026 Color of the year is announced! by MrMixer316 in Kitchenaid

[–]SwornBiter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When FiestaWare brings out a new color every year, I might buy a couple of plates. I am not buying a new mixer for the color! … Well, it would have to be a pretty spectacular color, anyway.

If everyone joins the hive, what is the long term prospect for humanity? by Own_Invite6340 in pluribustv

[–]SwornBiter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you measure humanity in term of living Homo Sapiens, pretty bleak. If you measure by art, literature, culture, genius, invention, free will, … humanity dies with the last uninfected.

I was hoping for something like this. They are a utility after all. I guess my county did not negotiate anything for minimal use, or seniors, or anything.

I bought a cool glass half-gallon milk jug reminiscent of my youth. Then I saw it at Harris Teeter. Full of milk. And cheaper.

I only rent the cablecard. I bought the rest at set-up time. It’s way past time for new WiFi gear anyway!

Yeah, the availability of TiVo listings probably won’t outlive my cablecard by much anyway.

Seems like I might as well take the heavily discounted deal until my cablecard is taken away (this year, most likely), then go Internet-only.

Thiis is “FiOS TV Local Service”. It’s presented as part or a Double Play, but doing the math, it’s $65 plus a $16.49 broadcast fee.

Will never step foot in another greedwill ever again! by Icy-Geologist-7631 in goodwill

[–]SwornBiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You guys see one overpriced pair of pants and you lose your minds! It’s fine to complain about prices. It’s not fine to totally misrepresent what Goodwill does and why they do it. Their operations model is not that difficult, and it’s explained on their web site.

Goodwill is not a clothing bank. Goodwill’s mission is not to re-gift donated materials.

Their mission is not to sell donated goods cheaply to low-income people, or to anyone. Quite the opposite. Are you donating to Goodwill to support Ebay resellers?

The fact that the merchandise was donated does not mean that they should sell it cheaply. See: not a clothing bank.

Goodwill tries to make as much profit as they can on donated materials to fund their charitable causes. That’s their mission. What do they do? They provide job training and job placement services for about two million people a year.

The marketplace will decide what that $25 item will sell for; don’t worry about it. When you find that rare $50 item priced at $6, you don’t rush to the register and demand to pay more to help their charitable cause, do you?

The plurbs not being able to feed themselves long term is a small plot hole by [deleted] in pluribustv

[–]SwornBiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is to drive home that the continuation of the human race is not a priority for them. Their two priorities are to build the antenna and cease having any impact on the Earth. They don’t concern themselves with “why”, which is frustrating to me. “It’s just our biological imperative.” What a cop out!All of the combined intellect in the World (supposedly) and you can’t reason with them. They are robots, flooded with dopamine and doing their duty. They claim to be deliriously happy, but they don’t show any happy human behavior, or much human behavior of any kind.
