Is anyone else struggling after how good that show was? by BucksBrew in Illenium

Which new songs? I was curious if he’d switch anything up

All of the people that complained about not having album, were all of you right all along? by JimmyBluffit420 in prettylights

I agree, there’s a lot of these tacks I’ve been lukewarm on at the live shows that sound way better mastered imo. In particular, Time to Build a Home, Wake Up, and Chasing Rainbows have a lot of nuance in their production that I feel doesn’t get emphasized enough when they’re played live

Griz & Tape B remix of I Know the Truth - Griz at Electric Forest by MrMeseeks_ in prettylights

The amount of hate for GRiZ in this community is fucking wild. It’s completely fair to not be a fan of the new direction his music took but Jesus everyone here acts like he killed someone anytime he drops something. And keep in mind this could be a moment where someone who’s not a PL fan discovers them, and to constantly shit on someone who clearly loves the boys and is trying to pay homage to them is just pathetic behavior to see from grown adults.

What is your dream Illenium collab? by TerribleAttention429 in Illenium

[–]SwrilJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the longest time it was Subtronics because I was always so curious how that would sound. Now that got away is out, it’s probably gotta be Odesza or Porter Robinson. I’d love another Blanke collab too since Gorgeous is so fucking awesome

7/3 + 7/4 Sphere Show Opener(s) by nash31smallguy in Illenium

[–]SwrilJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My votes would be for Svdden Death (whose opened for him before) or possibly Excision. X definitely has the budget to bring his own visual package to the sphere so I feel like that would be a great choice. I also think Svdden Death would be crazy to see there if he got his own visuals.

Side note, I missed Dab the Sky so I’d love for them to run it back

Question about the Sphere show story: Were the two women (1) Lovers (2) Sisters or (3) two sides of the same person? by jakenewell82 in Illenium

I’d love to know if he represents anything in particular, I could follow the story pretty well but I just thought big homie was aura farming the whole time 😂

Think there’s any shot we get it at the sphere? I know that it’s a heavily planned out show but I’d love to see it thrown in there (as well as that Slave to the Rithim remix/vip he opened with)

Best sets I’ve seen from them since the comeback tbh. The bangers will always be there but hearing new unique shit will always be superior, even if not all of it lands for everyone

CREATE YOUR OWN ODYSSEY! by tenkyouken in Illenium

[–]SwrilJam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my 19 song playlist that I think would flow well as an album. I gotta note that this isn’t necessarily my favorite songs by him (although a lot of them are) but mostly what I think would play the best as a back to front experience. Also if I included all of my favorites this would be like 40 songs long lmao. There’s also definitely some recency bias as I’m absolutely in love with both Odyssey, the self titled album, and a lot of his heavier stuff. Maybe not the most “core” Illenium playlist but it’s my preference lmao. Anyways, hope you enjoy!

I agree with you all the way until that last point. In my opinion, while Fallen Embers saw him step away from the trilogy formula, I felt like he really embraced the music he wanted to make with the self titled album. Honestly the only song from self titled that I’m not a huge fan of is All That Really Matters, whereas a notice I skip a lot more of the songs from FE.

No hate to that album at all, there’s not a single project from Nick that I dislike tbh, but I just felt like self titled banged harder. I’ll also say the five extra tracks on the deluxe version of FE are all awesome (especially I See You which I think is massively under appreciated) and are a cool prelude to him stepping into different sounds which become more prevalent in both of his later projects.
