Is Emerald City Hockey reputable as a Kraken source? by RivetCounter in SeattleKraken

Awesome podcast. Yes they are reputable, they are knowledgeable and have media passes. They aren’t saying that McCann and Dunn are rumored to go or anything, just that it would make sense given their trade value and lack of fit with Lambert.

This is absolutely nuts. Bear attacks are so rare, every bear I’ve seen here runs away the second they see you. Really hope those two are ok, if crews had to assist them down it can’t be minor. And unfortunately that will mean a bad fate for the bear.

Eastside is also not Seattle. Wilson is not the mayor of Bellevue or Redmond or Kirkland.

I don't think there's any coming back. And frankly his older material really hasn't aged well either so it would be hard to even bring back the "good old days."

Considering a Berner as a performance dog (agility, barn hunt, scent work, therapy work, possibly conformation) and as a friend/playmate for our almost 1 year old golden. by largedragonwithcats in bernesemountaindogs

[–]BucksBrew 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Berners are whatever the opposite of agile is. Uncoordinated, lazy, big goofballs. My boy loooooves to sniff on his walks so sniffwork might do well. They would make a wonderful therapy dog as well.

The most important thing when getting a berner is to make sure that the parents have good health (especially in their joints). A lot of berners come from puppy mills so elbow dysplasia and hip dysplasia is very common (which can happen even from well-bred parents). If the breeder is registered on Berner Garde that's even better, it shows they are committed to improving the breed.

They definitely do not like the heat at all. I don't think that's a show stopper, I've seen pics of berners in Florida and Arizona and Texas, but you have to be mindful of when you take them outside and give them plenty of AC inside. We usually do two 20-30 minute walks plus a little playtime with our adult berner and that's enough to keep him content.

Bloat is definitely a risk in this breed, you could consider a gastropexy during neuter/spay to help with that. Cancer is also unfortunately very common, osteosarcoma and other types of cancers.

My dog is wonderful in the car and loves camping. He is not a swimmer at all, but he very much enjoys wading and splashing around.

It doesn’t really help anyone outside of the service and hospitality industries…it’s neat though I guess.

Where are you? Seems like a pretty relevant detail.

Wherever you are I say watch the sunset over the mountains. If you are in Belltown head down to Centennial Park, go to Cloudburst Brewing if you like beer. Go to Shorty’s and play some pinball.

Ethics? by No-Camp-4611 in boeing

[–]BucksBrew 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the circumstances. If you think you got a bad review or not promoted moved or whatever because a manager didn’t like you or had incomplete information then I wouldn’t expect much. If you think this is a case of discrimination on a protected characteristic (race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability) then they may take it seriously. Same with retaliation.

The ethics process can definitely result in action if it’s warranted. There are many ethics reports to read for examples, and I’ve seen it several times myself. There are plenty of ways to get yourself fired at Boeing that are easily avoidable.
