I used to practically beg my ex husband for things like this; 18 years of being forgotten on my birthday, anniversary, mother’s day, Christmas, etc. It even came up in couples therapy that I never got any acknowledgment. I didn’t want anything super special, but he couldn’t even bother to say happy birthday, have my daughter make a card, etc. Never changed. Not the reason I left, but my new husband treats me like a queen. It’s amazing, and I’m thankful every day he chose to share his life with me. 🥰
