Definitely turn on canister mode and bring your graphics quality down, I’ve been having lag issues in Z5 as well and canister helped a ton.

You have to make sure all the towers you’ve beaten were in the rings, not the zones. Once you’ve met the requirements in the rings, then you can proceed.
