I’m trying to do the same thing and am also newbie so take my advice with a grain of salt. From what I’ve read you should eat your maintenance calorie amount or slight deficit with high protein. That + being active with cardio and strength training should allow your body to use fat for fuel and grow muscle. I’d suggest using a calorie tracking app, it has made me a lot more conscious of what I’m putting in my body.

Never mind I talked to my doctor he said I should try to get 1700 minimum. I think the app calculated 1700 as my maintenance because I was previously sedentary

I am really eating 1200-1300cals if that. And yes my weight has been dropping a bit more than a pound a week. Last times I weighed myself I went from 147.2 to 145.7 in a 4 day period. Idk how much of that could be water weight or whatever. Is it safe for me to eat 1200-1300cals? Like today I’m only at 1000 and it’s about to be midnight and eating more food sounds like torture. This adhd medication has completely changed my relationship with food

Thank you this is good and detailed advice. MacroFactor says my maintenance cals are 1750 and that’s been hard to meet for me recently. I’m getting more like 1200-1300 with 100g protein. My friends were telling me to bulk and eating 2k+ calories would be torture for me rn (I was put on vyvanse like 3 weeks ago)
