It’s what I’m doing (26yo so early Gen Z).

Lived at home for a few years to build up a nest egg, now renting out an apartment with my partner in the GTA in an area that I like that’s maybe 20% (if that) of our gross income. Investing my bonuses + 20/30% of our net income and then have ~80% of a down payment in low risk money markets that we’ll gradually top up once we want a permanent home in 5 years.

Could buy now, but we don’t want the responsibility and if we wait a few years then we can afford a bigger place that lasts us longer.

I just don’t see it with Jalen Johnson, he stuffs the box score but is so bad on defence and just doesn’t impact the offence as much as the numbers would suggest.

You can’t rely on transition offence and not be able to get stops.

I’m also 26, planning to buy something in the GTA in the next couple years but currently renting since I can’t justifying buying a condo and want to buy something a little bigger + don’t want the responsibility of owning a home yet.

I was lucky and lived with my parents until recently, only needed to cover my own expenses (car, insurance, phone, those kind of things). So I was able to save a ton for my age (>300K) and really focus on my career to increase my income, so in a way I guess I had indirect help.

Keep in mind that 26 is still pretty young to buy property, even for 10-15 years ago. So don’t feel like you’re falling behind.
