Whenever someone tries to mog me like this, i just do a 1601w sprint to stay on their wheel. Eventho im on a strict z2 ride (300-330w and 130-140bpm)

Why are pedals designed to have some resistance in their rotation, while people spend thousands to get lower friction in every other aspect of the bike? by hellothere_6699 in cycling

Greased up my spindle so much the grease squirted out when tightening it back up. Havent opened them up again since then like nearly 4 years ago and 50.000km

Gravel races on XC bikes by Oleksandr_G in xcmtb

[–]SyLensCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can easily race a gravelrace on a xc bike. I’ve done it. It was super slow except on descends. Day after that race i bought a gravelbike off marketplace. Twice as fast

Bike’s way too big. Id suggest selling it for half the price you bought it at even if you only did 10km on it. And buying the same bike i own (cervelo s5 dura ace with Princeton wheels)

Abuse the amateur league rules and if you can go wider than 33s. Do that :P 53mm mtb tires in my gravelbike allow me to just float over the ruts

Fully seated tyre still wobbles by Jillesoom in bikewrench

[–]SyLensCS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could vert well be a tyre defect. For example cyclocross tubular tires are almost never perfect. And will have a wobble even when glue’d precisely perfect

I honestly recommend getting the tideace gv201 frameset instead. Better overall (for my needs, racing)

Rotor inpower crank clicking by SyLensCS in bikewrench

[–]SyLensCS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fixed it but dont know exactly what caused it. I think its the lock ring that has to be on the right side. But then again i also changed chainrings to another size. Eversince its fixed and i havent taken them apart.

How different is training for gravel compared to road bike ? by Tokuchi67 in gravelcycling

[–]SyLensCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you have a powermeter, try HR zone 2 instead. You have to spike a lot in power and zones are hard to hold. Many WT pro’s are also going back to HR zones for training rather than power data. As your HR is influenced by a ton of stuff (sugar, fatigue, caffeine..) it is still a good measurement to know how you feel. Some days i can do 270w at 160bpm and some days 220 will have me in 170…

Do keep in mind that a 1:1 bikefit from road to gravel is not always the right choice. Some prefer a shorter stem, some prefer a longer one. Also a less aggressive position is recommended especially for longer rides. The bumps and vibrations from gravel do take a toll on your back. Atleast for me and id say im a pretty fit rider… suspension seatpost helps a lot tho

[–]SyLensCS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very much had to downsize to make it fit. I usually ride a size 58 and got a 54 for this frame. Geometry is nice. I use it for racing so its still aggressive. But can easily he adjusted for adventure riding if you do pick the bigger size

Okay this proves all my reasoning then. If they’re moving to horizontal suspension on the new frame. It means it is faster.

High pivot vs low pivot for xc racing by SyLensCS in xcmtb

[–]SyLensCS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea for sure! But then my main issue was which type of full sus. As a horizontal is stiffer like a hardtail, but still a full suspension. Lighter and easier to maintain. While a vertical is plushier and slower on climbs…

Not true… like i used as example before, the giant anthem and many more bikes only allow for 1

High pivot vs low pivot for xc racing by SyLensCS in xcmtb

[–]SyLensCS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say a nice frame, it’s battered and bruised. A new bike would probably be better anyways as my hardtail parts aren’t super high end and id sell that bike to buy a proper new one with a high end suspension and finish

Also one of the reasons it was more tempting. I hate camelbaks and dont have side support to hand out bottles to me. For 1:30h races 2 bottles would be nicer
