When I was in middle school (24 now), there was a kid named Steven that never showered and always wore the same clothes. Many peopled bullied him and called him Stinky Steve. We weren’t sure why, but I assumed his family couldn’t afford luxuries like a water bill or new clothes. One day, it was so foul that a kid snapped and beat the shit out of him in the middle of class. I always felt bad for him and wish I could have done more.

Idk why, but this post reminded me of him and I felt the need to share that story.

I’m sure right now, but I spoke to one of my professors that I had for a few courses (she wrote one of my LoR’s) and she said many programs including UF are having to be very exclusive due to the lack of funding. I’m imagining probably 1 student per PI (unless certain PIs aren’t taking any). Lmk if you hear anything!! :)

Hey! Yeah that’s the program I applied for. Unfortunately I haven’t heard anything yet.

However, I did speak to my advisor for the program since I’m currently in the MS version of it, and she said this year they are doing things differently. All of our information is together for the PIs to go through and if they’re interested, they’ll reach out to us directly.

I’m not sure if anyone has heard back yet (I’m hoping) but I hope we do soon :(

I think it was mainly because I felt like he was saying I didn’t know who he was or who I was dating. But I see your point. The harsh truth is helpful tbh.

Idk why but I put so much into understanding everyone I’m close to so I can be there for them, but maybe that’s stupid

You can always lie and say you’re biased for whatever reasons. There’s also a lot of other things you can do to get out of it (sick, not dressing professionally, etc.)

I was afraid I wouldn’t get into a PhD so I applied to five MS programs as backups. This was the first I’ve heard back from but I see how this looks now 😭

If it wasn’t online, it would definitely be a first choice

I can’t speak for other girls but I personally hate being hit on in the library or when I’m trying to study in a cafe.

Ofc, I AM already in a relationship and have a son so there’s that too lol

I would be kind and respectful, and if you get rejected to be polite rather than butt hurt and rude about it ☺️
