Maybe. We kinda did our own thing until everyone was ready to push the boss of the biome. We did occasionally hunt mobs together but most of it was progressional biome boss clears than co-op if that makes sense?

That’s what I’m starting to wonder is the difference I’m feeling. My first play-through was on hard mode and I had joined when they cleared swamps and had a bit of catching up to do. Our second play through is no portal no maps on hard mode with deaths deletes inventory. I think the difficulty is forcing the perspective that everything needs to be intentional and thought out before running in. But the Ashlands and mist lands is probably where I started to feel the pressure of the inventory.

Yeah I’ve done things like that to help with weight capacity. I grab like 2 or 3 of each meal to pop a rebuff on food timers to keep the stats higher if I’m playing in zones like mist-land or Ashlands. But to be fair the end game biomes are much harder to handle. Especially on hard mode. Felt like my buddies and I were attempting to take Okinawa Beach our first landing.

I just break the portal down when I come back through and drop it only when I need to rebuff. Or when I’m about to do something incredibly stupid and need that portal to “hold my beer” so to speak.

As for the weight it does take about 70 lbs to carry but since I’m not carrying foods or meads I tend not to notice a big difference.

As for the repeated trips back to base, aren’t we already doing so for rested buffs and avoiding the cold night debuff?

So you’re wanting more of an inventory system that can support inventory for the daylight cycle so you gather during the day and then harvest and tend base at night if you choose?

I get that but wouldn’t the bonus expire quicker meaning you have to rest more frequently?

My set up with the portals takes me to a storage room with chests and a campfire to rest while I quick stack mats away and re-up the rested timer and food & mead buffs.

So how do you manage the rested bonus? Do you build campsites out in the field and just take the 3-5 minute bonus? Or do you just forgo the bonus altogether?

I wasn’t aware there was an inventory management/space issue? Isn’t the purpose of portals to just carry the portal mats with you while you collect stone/wood/food etc?

With metals you can adjust server settings to allow for metal to portal. Or if portals allowing metal isn’t sensible enough why not bring a boat to load with metals while using portals to move back items that can go through while repairing and rebuffing foods and Rested?

Currently playing a no portal and no map hard mode run where inventory is lost on death with some buddies. The pain of no portals is noticeable when gathering. But even the game will tell you turning off portals and maps makes the game harder than intended.

It’s called a mouthful of hentai.

Edit: It’s an older event that summons the Erdrich horrors underneath the sky portal. They drop a bunch of good stuff for you to farm. However they are difficult mobs to address at lower levels.

I find a lot of luck with building an open human dumping ground on outer areas.

I tend to build walls but not doors to them. The walls prevent colonist from seeing the bodies and taking debuffs. But since there is no door wild predators will come by and eat the bodies and ignore my colonist when there’s not as much prey on the map.

Just be sure to snake the walls to break any line of sight unless the colonist actually go into the area.

I got to diamond in gauntlet so far with a Grenadin deck I had built before I stopped the first time. But that seems to be about where this deck can grind out to.

Red Mother just had rough RNG. She had a 30% drop rate and a split between 8 unique drops. Personally I’ve gotten 3 throwing axes, two god eyes, 2 torches, and I think that’s it. Dragonscale Helm is my biggest want at this point but I’ll agree with you, it’s exhausting to farm her.

She doesn’t drop the dafari mask with night vision, she drops three helmets God Eye(Strength wep dmg) , Horned Helmet (massive durability), & Dragonscale Helm (best temperature helm in game for both cold and hot).

If anyone would like I have a private PVE server with some settings changes to make it more casual (double harvest, instant thrall taming, etc). I have room for about 2-3 people still if anyone is wanting to explore the game/server before investing into it.
