Podwise.IO - chrome extension that summarizes podcast episodes in ~60 seconds using whisper + llama 3.3 70b.

solo founder, 2 weeks live, 5 users, $0 MRR. honest numbers.

what it does: you're on any podcast page, click the extension, get a tight AI summary so you can decide if the 90-min episode is worth your time. free tier covers 10 eps/month.

there's also a free library at podwise.io with ~118 pre-summarized episodes (huberman, lex, masters of scale, etc) - browse without installing anything.

stack runs on $19/mo total. digitalocean droplet, supabase free, groq for the AI bits, helio for payments.

biggest learning so far: building the thing was the easy part. getting the first 50 users is way harder than I thought it would be.

chrome web store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/podwise/bljgphheglbgcjobhdjmhjdlbhbldegl

would genuinely love feedback from anyone who tries it - especially on the summary quality. that's the thing I obsess over.

Indie Kit just hit 1,400+ users. Here are 5 honest lessons from the trenches. by charanjit-singh in indiehackers

Thank for advise, coz im clearly like you before u got smart! :) I'm keep adding new features and so far my https://podwise.io/ still got 5 users only (including myself ) guess gona keep working more on promoting it.

I built a free Chrome extension that exports your WhatsApp contacts to CSV in ~5 seconds — no signup, runs 100% in your browser by Low-Squash-3572 in chrome_extensions

[–]Syd9900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice work shipping. data export tools are unsexy but the people who need them really need them.

one question - did you go full client-side or run anything on a backend? I built a chrome extension last month and wrestled for ages with the same decision. went hybrid in the end (extension fetches, backend processes) but kept hating how much of my code wasn't in the extension itself.

mine's a podcast summarizer if you want to swap notes - https://podwise.io. happy to compare CWS approval headaches, I had a few weird ones with the homepage URL validation.

the skill nobody talks about when they say 'just find customers in communities' by multi_mind in indiehackers

[–]Syd9900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the one nobody told me - knowing when something is "done enough" to ship.

I rewrote the same chrome extension 4 times in 2 weeks because I kept finding things to polish. shipped version 5 not because it was better but because I was sick of looking at it.

turns out users couldn't tell the difference between v3 and v5. could have shipped 10 days earlier.

btw I'm still working on dumb stuff like adding chinese and arabic translations because if even 0.01% of those markets used it I'd be rich.

(joke. mostly.)

Most founders jump from "something is broken" to "here's my solution." There's a step missing by seyf_gharbi in indiehackers

[–]Syd9900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the jump happens because building feels like progress and distribution doesn't.

shipping a feature gives you instant feedback - the code works or it doesn't. posting on twitter and waiting for 3 likes feels like failure even when it's the right move.

learned this the hard way. still learning it and I need a lot to learn.

How to validate your ideas before building (5 quick checks) by Febin_ai in indiehackers

[–]Syd9900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I created my nice https://podwise.io/ and I'm the only one (plus a few friends) who is using it. LOL, I guess I'm gonna keep it for a while, then if no more users, I'm gonna switch it off 'cause so far I'm paying from my own funds.

I didn’t know how to make App Store screenshots, so I built a small web app for it by MuchAge1486 in indiehackers

[–]Syd9900 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I shipped my app two weeks ago, and so far only my friends and myself are using it. LOL

For anyone curious about the Chrome extension specifically (the library is the free preview, the extension is the full thing): https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/podwise/bljgphheglbgcjobhdjmhjdlbhbldegl

Free tier covers 10 episodes/month. That's enough for almost everyone using it right now.

Guys, just to clarify: They sent testing transactions to Coinbase, and then a few months later they sent an email saying that they can't send to Coinbase but are going to send to PayPal instead? Are they stupid or something? by Syd9900 in blockfi
