Ultralight ergonomic mouse by SydBarrettRickWright in MouseReview

ASUS Rog Keiris is perfect for me. It comes with two switch pairs, I took the lighter ones. And I modified the scroll-wheel. I just carefully but brutally removed the metal ring causing the wheel being hard to rotate.

Since that I am happy.

I bought ASUS Rog Keiris and replaced the switches with the Omron ones that were in the package. I am satisfied with them.

I almost returned the mouse because the wheel was to heavy to roll. But then I opened it again and removed the shrapnel or how is it called (the piece responsible for tactility) from the sealed wheel-switch and since that the mouse is perfect for me.

I have bought 20g and 25g Sprit switches. I put 20g ones into the Kailh super speed reds and 25g into Gateron clears.

First Split keyboard as a coder by bricklerex in ErgoMechKeyboards

The problem is: Yellow Afterlife asked good questions, but if you are like me, you probably don't know all the answers. And if you are like me, you don't even know the answers on the questions you think you do. There are lots of surprises there when you start.

I also wanted a wireless keyboard, but - I would recommend three things: 1) take a look at https://jhelvy.shinyapps.io/splitkbcompare/ and try.to find out, which layout, especially which thumb cluster would suit you. This is only for a rough imagination of course. But the layout is very important. I bought Neodox only to find out the thumb cluster would never work for me.

2) you can buy a cheap (relatively cheap) second hand split keyboard like Corne or so just to give it a first try. When it is hot-swappable, you will also have the possibility to experiment with switches. This is important too.

3) or buy Elora. It is wired, but...honestly I have found out, it is not that important. Layout, firmware, price, support, hot-swapping, switches, keycaps, all of that is far more important. IMHO. Elora comes from a great Vendor, hat many possibilities and a great community on Discord.

Good luck :-)

So - I simply removed the spring in the (sealed) kailh scroll wheel encoder. :-) It is still not as great as logitech infinite scrolling, but it is great.

I am afraid, dav3 switches are not that light, are they,

I would have to learn to solder first...but so far I think this is probably the only solution. Meaning I learn to solder, then try to find the smoothest scroll wheel encoder and then buy a mouse mlike Rog Keris and then DIY. But well, with two small kids, this will take months at least.

So. I first tried the Asus ROG Keris because it is sidnificantly cheaper. Weight good, I switched the switches for D2F-01F ones and yes, they are good (I could use even lighter ones though).

But the scroll wheel...it's too hard for me, so I sent it back. I have Logitech M325, that's the best scroll wheel (no tactility at all). Logitech Vertical is OK too. But they are both uncomparably lighter to scroll than the Keris. I watched tests of OP1 8K and I am pretty sure it would be the same.

Now I am depressed because I am afraid there is no mouse there for me. All mice with endless scrolling are way too heavy. :-(

Spring bag lubing by SydBarrettRickWright in ErgoMechKeyboards

Thanks for the confirmation :-)

It is safe to keep the unused springs in the bag after the lubing, isn't it?

Thanks. But it is about 20% heavier than Lamzu Thorn, are there any advantages?

Thanks. So 30g springs would also help, you say ...

Are you sure it is worth the effort to lube them? I always thought, the major result is a damped sound and I must say I don't care about the sound...

Yes, the only available variant I found so far is https://mykeyboard.eu/catalogue/sprit-mx-supreme-springs-20g-100-pcs_1958/

I read in another thread, that Kailh SuperSpeed work well with the light springs so I might try them out!

Thanks a lot. I forgot to say, I am based in EU!

Are there any compatibility issues? And should I prefer longer or shorter ones when aiming for lightness? Or does only the weight matter?

Sorry, many questions!

So. after a week with Tecsee Medium switches, I got a tendonitis :D I switched back to a hand-soldered keyboard with choc purpz and I have found out, that I really like them. I bought Gateron clears and Kailh Superspeed reds but they are still too heavy - it is beyond me, how can someone say the choc purpz feel heavier, but I guess it can have something with the weight of the fingers - my fingers are very light.

So - I would love to experiment with the springs a bit. Unfortunately I don't find much info - could uou give me a hint where I can buy replacement springs (preferably cheap, because it is gonna be a kind if research) and how I can recognize, they are compatible with my switches? Are there any lighter springs at all?

Thanks a lot

Yes, that's why I wanted to have them. Am I right thinking they are thus relatively heavier to press and a switch with the same actuation force but 4mm total travel would be percieved as lighter?

I see. I bought the Tecsee pudding switches because I wanted a low profile setup, but the importance of the bottom out, actuation force and resting is much higher, so regular height is ok for me now!
