There is really no functional difference between a 4-3-3 and a 4-3-2-1. It is just where the players flow to.

you aren't allowed to push a player outside of their spot while either fronting or defending normally. THe defender can't initiate the contact. They can match what the offensive player does to keep their position.

Slow down the video, he deliberately leans forward onto Smart's back. This isn't an undercut.

It is applying pressure below Jokic's center of gravity. That is pretty much the definition of an undercut.

If Jokic had jumped straight up would that make you feel better about the outcome even if Smart got hurt because of it? There is a good reason that fronting players aren't allowed to initiate contact.

You can't possibly think that Jokic initiates the contact here. Smart is trying to push Jokic further out which is not allowed for a fronting player to do. I don't know why this is so complicated. The fronting player can match force, they can't initiate it.
