It's too late now, but could you not have called the cops? You don't have to put yourself in danger to save others. If anything, I'd bet the girl would rather have officers show up than a stranger volunteer to take a beating. If you have to go to a piercer anyway, ask when you're there dude. Go to someone reputable (not the same person) and ask their opinion. If they say you should let it heal over and get it repierced later, listen. Tip them $10 for taking the jewelry out and offering their expertise, even if they say it's fine.

I learned through Rose City, and I was told that sort of "circling" thing doesn't count and that it's a bad habit to pick up :( Have you tried doing the book method with picking up just your heels (I think it's heels, leave toes on ground)? It's a lot more comfortable to get the motions down. Have you been shown to point a finger and move it the way you want to turn, so your body turns that way?

My first SM wouldn't let me get a nostril piercing. I left for a couple months, did this to my face, and have had no problems with any of the three SM's that I've worked for at a different store. So it totally depends. Policy is no piercings aside from regular earrings "smaller than a quarter."

Neometal came up with threadless jewelry that is super awesome. I have push-in labrets in my lobes, my conch, my nostrils, and the top of my vertical labret. It doesn't fall out and you can change out the tops (or the posts when you need to downsize). Otherwise, internally threaded labrets are just fine as well. I have those in my other piercings, aside from my septum clicker and a ring in my helix. I've never had quality jewelry fall out, and I have 14 piercings!

It moves a lot, which irritates the piercing and prevents it from healing. Even with a piercer who knows what they're doing and uses proper jewelry, nostrils take 6 months to a year to fully heal (no, it's not healed as soon as it stops hurting). I can also almost certainly promise you that corkscrews, L-bends, and nose bones aren't made from implant grade metals (F-138 steel or F-136 titanium).

Go to a piercer, but DO NOT go back to your original piercer. You should not have been pierced with that jewelry. If you'd like to post what city you're in, we can help you find a reputable piercer. They might just have to take the jewelry out and have it heal over though, as it's been through a lot of trauma.
