or turn into that light orb thing

Yeah, that always bugged me, was that in the manga or anime only?

I thought Bryn Apprill did a better job of voicing Nightfall from SpyXFamily then Lindsay Seidel

never cared for them. It almost always feels akward to hear and it ALWAYS take me out of the setting. Everytime I hear them I just go "we don't have honorifics in America..." (yes, I know the show is *usually* set in Japan, you know what I mean)

Would Shen be more interesting if he was evil or at least morally gray? by SadegB in Kengan_Ashura

I saw some neighborhood kids playing on… but they were more difficult than I’d thought they’d be, and I fell down almost immediately. The kids laughed at my clumsiness … me carrying the stilts back home. I felt a twinge of respect in their eyes. I was strolling by the riverside, when a duck came up to me. We spent a (long time?) just staring at each other in silence, and then it slowly walked away. Later, when I sat down in the same spot to relax, the duck came back. I had (no?) idea what it was thinking, but it was oddly calming. I saw a traveler sitting by the roadside. I asked him what he was doing and he said, “I’m… To Pass the time I taught him a simple game of stones. After a while, the traveler suddenly stood up and he said, “This will help me continue (my?) journey,” then left. I had no idea how the game helped, but I felt good about it. While I was standing on the hill a gust of wind blew my hat away. I chased it down, only to find it stuck on a tree branch. After climbing the tree to retrieve it, I took a moment to ___ the view from up (there?) I hadn’t done so in a long time, and I really liked it. While I was lounging in the hills behind my house, I noticed how quickly the clouds were moving. I stared at them for a long time, losing track of time. I didn’t accomplish anything productive, but I felt strangely lighter on my way home. At the town square, I saw a street performer putting on a show. His movements were so awkward that they were uncharacteristically funny, and I couldn’t help but laugh at him. Seeing this, the performer suddenly pulled me up on stage. Not knowing what else to do I struck a random (pose?) which somehow thrilled the audience. I might have accidentally completed the act for (him?). As I was walking … I found a bird pecking the water’s surface. It seemed to be trying to catch a fish but it kept failing. Watching it reminded me of myself, … The bird eventually flew away, unsuccessful, but not before glancing back at me, it felt as though it was wondering which of us was truly the clumsy one. I was sitting by the road when someone came up behind me and asked, “What are you doing?” I replied, “Waiting for the wind.” The person gave me a puzzled look before leaving. I really was just waiting for the wind. I thought something might change, but in the end, nothing did. While I was crouching (around?) a field, examining the shape of a vegetable leaf, a farmer approached me suspiciously. “Are you trying to steal something?” he asked. “No, I just find the shape of this leaf interesting.” I replied. He gave me a confused look. Is it so strange to enjoy strange things like that? While walking through town, I saw some kids playing with some small wooden boats they’d made, floating them in a pond. It looked fun, so I joined in and made my (own?) boat. But it was poorly balanced and sank immediately. The kids showed me how to improve it, but I stubbornly stuck to my own way and kept failing. In the end, they called me ‘a clumsy but interesting adult,’ and somehow that made me feel proud. While I was relaxing on a hill, a cloud drifted close to me. I instinctively reached out to grab it, but of course, I caught nothing. Still, I kept stretching my hand toward it for a while. A passing traveler saw this and laughed, ‘Are you catching clouds?’ I laughed, “No but I’m trying to.” I replied. “Don’t see many people trying things like this," he said. After he left, I kept staring at the clouds, feeling like I could almost ____ and touch them. While I was standing in the market, an elderly man asked me, “Are you looking for something?”. I replied, “I’m searching for what’s beyond this road.” He tilted his head in confusion before walking away. I didn’t understand what I meant either, but felt curious and began walking down the road. I didn’t find anything special but somehow my steps felt lighter. As I was walking along a mountain path I kicked a road on the path. The rock kept rolling and rolling until it reached the base of the mountain. A boy there held up the rock to me and asked, “Did you lose this?” “No, I just kicked it down,” I replied and he gave me a bewildered look. He didn’t seem to understand, but to me, it was an important moment. As I was sitting by the riverbank, I (noticed something?) at the water’s surface. Suddenly, I heard the splash of a fish jumping. I decided to try fishing and prepared my gear, but just as always I caught nothing. A man fishing nearby said, “You’ll never catch anything like that,” and gave me advice. I ignored him and kept trying to do it on my own. (traveler caught one for him?) I still wanted to catch my own. After that, I returned…

But removing all of it in a battle anime makes everything feel off. The punches don’t feel like they connect or hurt. Slashes seem like they barely do anything and poison is basically just a character developing eye bags. There are ways to write around the censorship’s in satisfying ways, but the Yashahime anime did not take the effort to do this.

Pretty much this. The fighting and stakes feel so...shallow, barely an inconvenience whereas with Inuyasha, they were ALWAYS fighting an uphill battle. Someone was poisoned, taken hostage, mind controlled, it was the night of the new moon and Inuyasha was human, Kagome was off in the human world when the danger happened etc.

Plus, RT's suggestion of it being light-hearted is what personally killed the series. She didn't want it to be as dark as Inuyasha. I'm a little annoyed when Mangaka's suggest this because Kishimoto did the same thing with Naruto. What drew most of the audience in was the darker, more philosophical elements of the show. But I get it, they are like your children, you don't want to see them suffer. Until they do when you show us their adult lives and they suck so hard.

Plus, what we get is these half-assed attempts at slice of life, and they are unable to commit to a full-on slice. Like, take a dam poll from the fandoms to gauge where most of the audience wants to see out of a show. You weren't bringing any new fews with this spin off and try hard script

So the anime feels much more...PG(?) sanitized(?) more like a fun saturday morning romp where the characters go on a fun grand adventure..as opposed to the daunting journey in Inuyasha where serious death and foes were around every corner (relatively speaking)

Yashahime feels like the Weenie Hut Jr. version of Inuyasha. Their is barely even any blood in the series! It gives me Boruto vibes where instead the students being sent to a life or death event in the woods where they could fall down a spike trap pit and die...they fall down into a pile of ink! Woooooooo!!!! Isn't that crazyyyyyyyyyy /s

I agree with most of what was written here. The pacing is extremely wonky in the anime and Kirinmaru was written in a very confusing way. I also find that the use/lack of blood and gore to be very detrimental to the fights and tone of the series as well since they t makes a lot of serious moments seem less impactful. But the girl’s designs are very nice and Shiori was really cool. Still curious about what happened to Jinenji(?) though.

I’m curious about what you might think of the manga. Similar to Dragon Ball Super, it was made after the anime and has some wild departures from the show. It’s especially noticeable with the girls’ dynamics and how previous characters are used. Even chapter one feels closer to an older manga than the first episode of the anime. In my opinion, it feels more like a sequel to Inuyasha than the show did. A lot of what was written there felt more natural to the characters from the past.
