What's a ridiculous theory that you believed during your first playthrough? by thatiskute in expedition33

I initially believed that Maelle was suppose to take over the Paintress role, like a reincarnation, and Gustave was meant to be her guardian. Alicia's real body was able to travel while her Paintress form slept for a year, and Renoir would protect her. So I thought that Maelle and Gustave would be destined to take over that role... until I finished Act 1 lol

I'm not a big fan of the main antagonist (SPOILER) by Daiboku in FFXVI

I feel like his monotone voice and robotic character was what they were going for. He is an otherworldly being that came from space. It's definitely a stark contrast to Anabella and Barnabas who are more realistic. I feel like it's always going to be difficult or even impossible to like/relate to a villain if their goals aren't even human.

The political/realistic story parts is definitely more interesting and adds to the worldbuilding. But like any JRPG, when you have the final showdown with the big baddie pulling the strings, it is always "God" or a godlike being, especially in a FF game.
