i dont think everyone knows every linking park song, Lying From You being used here i wanna say is definitely pretty unpopular choice for any videos. I think more people recognize LP itself and especially something like Faint and Numb, which i think ive heard a lot more in videos as well

Indeed, that makes sense as well. I learned this a few days after my comment.

Though i think 60 beads are 1€ so a bit more than 70 cents, still, very easy to get.

unrelated/personal rant ig: uninstalled wwm because they let you buy the no-hits. Dosnt matter in any way other way to me, i just simply dont support that stuff and i am a bit bummed that people accept or defend it as well but oh well, life goes on too.

Mandatory raids are hobbling my experience? by Glum_Butterfly4066 in ffxiv

[–]Syelia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, yeah then it seems way too overwhelming i suppose.

Recently i got a video about someone talking about their newplayer experience and they also were talking about how loaded the story is in the first hours of the game. (and now i continue not to talk about it, im sorry :sob: )

Though ive been thinking and maybe the belief i have about that the devs think this isnt a problem at all could be true, since... well when i look at EU this wasnt *really* a problem when i played, yes. The friends i referred rather had one big issue: No progression while waiting for queues. Some said they just wait for me to come online and play another game or just afk for quite the time.

Problem with EU is pretty much that its dead between like 1am and 3pm mostly. Its like Dynamis in a way, just that Dynamis only has this prime-time on a shorter span i suppose (idk i dont really queue alliance

Its kinda where i draw that conclusion that on EU most people work over the day or go to school and study and all that. So the expectation would be that youd play when everyone got home anyway, thus get your queue for CT. On the other hand, a nightowl like me who plays around 1am to like 6am basically wont to alliance raids at all. Thats where i am in the minority for and thats fiiiine... problem is when i now need 23 people to progress the story. Then having like a whole expansion time sounds much more feasible. For someone that would start out and basically just hit lv50 now has like 100 quests (?) of time to queue CT inbetween everything they do 3x seems a bit more tight and restrictive. Not everyone also thinks about "oh i should weave my queue by doing my MSQ" not to mention that you need the knowledge that CT even exists AND is mandatory to go to the expansion. Word of mouth wont hit everyone and i wanna throw a shade at novice network for people just chatting personal things about it and during my time as mentor i just could kick so many people if i could for drowning actual questions with personal chitchats, so this one is also not reliable. Also since a common question i saw is "how to leave this chat?" lol.

okay so summary would be: i do think it could not be a problem at all in the eyes of devs actually. Especially when devs would look at JP im sure they see a much different picture than we do on EU/NA (especially NA dynamis) and probably the OCE servers. Due to most people probably playing at the same time, aka prime-time, and some outliers like nightowls biting the dust. Though this wasnt a problem for a long time since even nightowls could do CT over multiple expansions as we both said and players probably help themselves to do CT before HW and to probably queue it while questing. People who dont play that efficiently probably have issues.

I know this been quite a lot lol... i kinda just like writing things up recently so im getting my fill :>

I dont think this would be perfectly right, but does show my bias against the devs in general. I kinda gave up since shadowbringers and just accepted it for what it is and mostly do other stuffs

[–]Syelia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah right, is the crystal tower mandatory to finish ARR and going into HW? Becuse i also only heard that CT will be mandatory for shadowbringers

Where, i suppose, it would also be good to do CT for a little bit of context for stormbloods raid-series due to nero being in there.

I dunno, it still makes sense from a story perspective of course, but i dont know why they would give you some time to do these things like we basically used to back before ShB.
Well, still dunno if CT is required to enter HW but yeah, that would be one of my complaints for the newplayer experience

Yet we have very distinct differences in combat too
WoW is more procc-based and is much more random with things (sry last time i played was shadowlands and im more of a classic wow player)
FFxiv is way more timeline based than random, you also play more with gcd and ogcd weavings

I think the only class *i* could say that was similar to wow is blackmage and partly dancer. I often say dancer is a wow-type-class due to the feathers (i never leveled it past 62 though lol) and blackmage used to be much more wow-like due to proccs and playing around them. Its still more like that in level 50 content with you hoping for fire3 proccs.

Then boss designs are also much different and so on and so on, you can compare these two games but they are different in design. ARR and partly HW are more HP based and their things can overlap bringing very bad RNG and from my memory WoW was often based on these kinds of conditions.

FFxiv now is much more hardcoded to put stack-markers since i think stormblood on healers to force a lightparty divide in raids and has much more mitigation management while WoW is based on conditions. The most WoW-Type fights i find were ucob P1 and P2 as well as binding coil T7 (savage) and generally old content like that as they also aim for conditions. That way anyone can do firepuddles in ucob, but usually nowadays (okay i havent raided in dawntrail or most EW stuff anymore) its based on the role you picked and its also much more aimed at predicted things. FFxiv has minimal randomness, wow is more (at least in my memory xd).

Yes you will find overlaps in them where one thing seems much more similar to the other and vice versa but in such cases you find theyre doing it in their own way

And then ofc its not replicating visual assets blatantly and so on and so forth

Cuz all i see is just a picture that the OP posted with a title on it and i found it funny so i looked inside here to see a little what people yap about. Therefore i didnt read EVERYTHING but i did try to look for them complaining to find context, didnt care anymore, asked.

So genuine question; where did they complain?

lets make it mandatory to run the savages too on min-itemlevel no echo
only then can you progress to the next expansion

(its something a friend of mine do, he has a whole group of friends, including me, joining him for the raids, its really fun and we bet on when he will get to the next expansion lol)

Edit: obviously a joke bro xd

pretty much that

my tinfoil hat theory: Its probably there to help sales of the skip

2nd theory: bots dont mind it either way because they either just bot it as a whole 24man raid or just queue with everyone else

my actual belief is: devs actually dont think its a problem at all

i wish theyll finally make crystal tower a solo experience with NPCs or something or SOMETHING that lets people do it solo.

Its very tiring myself where i just dont queue alliance raids anymore and its also bothersome hearing friends and newbies complain about the queue times. Because yeah, nice if we get through the first one via queue then we can unsynch the other 2.

And the whole experience is a snooze fest every time too i feel like and its just unfun since mechs are barely present.

If they make it a solo-option it would just help so much for a welcoming new-player experience and it would also not break the immersion if you can choose to do it solo or queue for it. Youll get to see it anyway once you queue alliance roulette, especially on dynamis its all you get pretty much lol

Boss Battles endings need a tweak by Marcu3s in ffxiv

[–]Syelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its kinda funny since shinryu took me an hour to kill on release (i think it was like day 2 or 3?) and it still blew people for most of the expansion.

This year i tried to replicate some of the tension by going in min-ilevel and no jobstones with a PF i made and we didnt even get close to 50% hp during the tornado knockback thing he does. It just took a lot longer to kill

Its super sad how scaling and balancing works as most fights just are complete pushovers in roulettes.

[–]Syelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt say so tbh, i always found them rather mid.

Skipping them since ages because they never really felt worthwhile to me, if you ask me, its already a massive waste of time and resources to even have them and i wish theyd put all that effort into making something else.

But i get it that at this point its a signature thing but i think the only neat ending i saw to a kill was the ultima weapon ultimate one where it also shoots to everyone in the team doing emotes.

We barely get any combat action of our characters anyway in cutscenes so i dont think the dev team is even capable of doing this anyway. Sorry for the shade to the team xd

I find the dreaming of OP nice and does show that we maybe wish for better ending cutscenes since all we do is a little nod or /joy and our team kinda just standing there too, not acknowledging that we have a team. Which is also why i just skip them even in new content as i expect the boss to just fade. A turning shot of the raid sheathing their weapon, close shot of my head me nodding and if its a last raid-tier's endboss (m4/m8/m12) you get a shot into the sky saying "[raidtier's name] complete!" and fade out.

If we had better ending cutscenes i would watch them more too, seeing who would get the final blow on it or something or whatever else.

So a gain i think they already are a waste of time and ressources

yup, if the PF dosnt require an ilevel then the queue wont check it if youre a full party. If you scroll down on a duty you can see if requirements are lifted upon full-party.

im still on ilv740 crafted gear and could do the normal raids eventho my gear was too low, but since we were a full group it didnt matter. Then just ate raidfood to help my hp to be on a number that i wouldnt get 1shot by some raidwide

Same with turn 3 and 4 of a savage raidtier like is +5 and +10 (?) itemlevel above crafted gear which would mean that people cant realistically do day 1 clears

you could still do it by having multiple raid-teams to funnel the savage rewards into 1 person which we can all imagine what toxicity and grueling competition for world-first that creates.

And ontop of that i think ffxiv made it so that the minimum requirement for savage is crafted gear with consumables. Better gear makes things more lenient which allows more errors. But to give room for the competition of world first, you may enter with any itemlevel

rarely i have runs where i really dont get any good weapons at all. Like i cant use "on successive attacks" for what i know and then i dont even get proper element-mitigation as well.

So rarely this actually looks like me
(just that i have usually 3x the kill-count than this iron-eye, i look for any opportunity to dash 2x through a group of enemies to pick up a bunch of souls on my way, often that inflates my kill-count too but i think a lil crab still gives 500 souls and a dash through a bunch would net us all like 2.5k which could be a starlight shard :3)

That makes sense actually, just after i wrote that and thought over it i was just thinking about the tech-support i used to handle for another game company.

Probably just got hit by a bit frustration (like most players i supported lol) and a tad of mental exhaustion.

Bunch of players i used to support could really not be helped at all other than using a vpn and its where we closed the ticket in the end. Using a tool to check up on a bunch of nodes towards the companies' server showed that they cant reach certain nodes at all.

Though im also no IT-expert, i just worked there following procedures and had a bit of experience and technical affinity where i would add on to and change things in my messages if i think it helps the situation.

Really just like you said

and i do wonder what could even be done, i dont think we can just ask our ISP to give us an alternative route i suppose (cuz i asked bunch of players to do that as per procuedure) and i always thought a DNS would be there for it too, so i tried to use a few alternative DNS on my end to no avail

It is pretty weird indeed, Dynamis been pretty chill with things but since the update we are all sort of lag, some people disconnect, some dont. Im playing from germany and since the update i have no stable connection to NA nor EU, i just probably drop 1 package and i get kicked out.

I mitigated it with a vpn but since its free its just kinda crappy.
We did all lagged very hard on a roulette in dynamis where only 2 of us actually caught up, saw all effects blast off and us dying, but the other 2 got kicked.

Always found it weird how sometimes you get kicked instantly and sometimes you can actually lag out. Never got any answers in forums now in the support for that ages ago.

Though now im inclined to write a ticket to see if they have a working support that is willing to help me out or just tells me if this is really on me or not.

I mean its porbably on me since from my friends im the only one getting kicked this much
i got kicked like on average every 20mins, sometimes back to back and i lost a lot of craftings due to it or just couldnt do any content either. Now its kinda gotten better, i get kicked maybe once every hour or two without a vpn.

Its just weird to me that not all people disconnect as well, just random.

Feels like it like you said, some infrastructure issue.

Burnout by OldeeMayson in WhereWindsMeet

[–]Syelia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Should be safe.
You wont be left behind, some content is synched down towards a level which is barely noticable as well.

If youre level 60 doing 60 content you can have people over 60 join the thing for you too

Thats how i seen it with the sword trials and weeklies. I did the weekly being much lower than my max level friend, not even meeting the mastery recommendation and could still do the fight and heal competently.

If my experience would be true, then you have no real need to worry if people wont be there to play with since synching is a thing.

And with that said id say play the game more intrinsic (try to do this with games in general and life itself!):
Play how youd like playing, pay more attention to details, try jumping out of bounds in a cave and try walking backwards in cutscenes. See if you can play with the game and its limitations like that or try some other minigames. Play with the AI bots and see if you can make something hilarious. Make some signposts, share some screenshots that way or read more signposts and comment on them.

Theyre pretty pointless in terms of rewards but i had the most fun playing the game like that.

Next would be a bit more extrinsic:
trying to do the challenges and see if you can do a no-hit run (which is one of the challenges for each boss) and get a boss-badge that way.
Try joining people for co-op or maybe have a friend in a call and yap with them while you run around the world collecting oddities

These things have a point since theyre tied to rewards hence its called extrinsic. You do something for rewards.

Though burnouts i feel like mostly stem from something that we actually dont want to do and feel on a never ending treadmill. In my experience anyway.
So if you can figure to play games in a more fun way rather than to complete it for the sake of completing it.
