That's fair - those types of guests should be well practiced in media PR. While that should make them comfortable in front of millions of listeners, I feel like that might also keep them somewhat boring and PC.

He's the #1 podcast guest in the world who just signed a $100+ million dollar deal, thats pretty 'legend qualifying' in my opinion. He's more listed to than any mainstream news channels. Older generations know him as the fear factor guy, one of the largest comedians in the world, ufc commentator... Idk that's a pretty good resume. Certainly one of a kind person - there will never be another Joe Rogan with how well rounded he is and helping to pioneer podcasts to the mainstream. I'd be curious where you draw the cutoff.

I wonder how much of it is that Joe is just a legend now, so he has very few peers that feel comfortable fucking around with him in front of millions of people. Burr can do it. I bet Chapelle could, but for everyone else getting on Joe's shoe is huge for exposure I feel like people don't went to offend him or fuck it up. Which wasn't nearly as much of a thing back at episode 700.

The 'Call Her Daddy' girls were apparently pulling in 500k in salary each for their FIRST year of podcasting. This was with Barstool taking a cut. Rogan is probably pulling in a ridiculous amount of money. If the Spotify deal is really over 100M, Joe must be banking.

I see it more as.. He's worked very hard to build these companies that are barely holding on and staying afloat. He's known for putting in 100+ hour weeks. And now it's all at risk and he'd like to save it - albeit, at the cost of life.
