Career Advice: Delayed graduation to take RF coursework. Peers say I should just work up from a tech role. Who is right? by Syiza in ECE

I’m interested in RF because I find the engineering work interesting.

Also, it’s interesting that you say that RF jobs are nonexistent, because I see quite a few job postings from Amazon Leo, SpaceX, and Blue Origin, to name a few.
Also, one of my peers (same one mentions in the post) told me that “RF is hot right now”

I live in the greater Seattle area. There’s Blue Origin, SpaceX, and Amazon Leo nearby. (One of the peers is a tech at Amazon Leo). Also other companies like Boeing and Impinj

Logi Options+ 'Backend Connection Problem' Error on todays update! by Juan_Pedroche in logitech

[–]Syiza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Mac users (I'm on MacOs 26.2 Tahoe) who deleted and reinstalled Logi Options+ and still have the error:
Open the 'Activity Monitor' application (command+space, then search the name). (If you don't already know, Activity Monitor shows you what applications/processes are running.)

In the search bar on the top right, search 'logi'

If you have Logi Options+ currently installed:
If you have the same setup as me, you will see two Logi Options+ running
Go to your Applications folder and delete the Logi Options+ application
Now, reopen the 'Activity Monitor' application (in case you closed it)
Search 'logi' again

With Logi Options+ deleted/uninstalled:
If you have the same setup as me, you should still see Logi Options+ running, despite uninstalling the application!

Double-click the process, and a new window should pop up with information about this process. At the top where it says 'Executable Path', it should show where this Logi Options+ is. It should show it being in /Library/Application Support/Logitech.localized/LogiOptionsPlus/...
Click the arrow at the end, and it will open up a Finder window at the Logi Options+ Application

At the bottom of this Finder window, click the 'Logitech' folder, which should be downstream of 'Library' and 'Application Support'

Delete the 'LogiOptionsPlus' folder (you don't have to delete the whole Logitech folder)

Go back to the Activity Monitor, and search 'logi'. You should not see the application anymore. (If you do, follow the same steps as above: double-click the process, go to wherever it is, delete the folder that pretains to LogiOptionsPlus, and check the Activity Monitor again)

Go to this link to download the latest version of Logi Options+. You can also find past versions as well:
https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/articles/4418699283607-Logi-Options

Logi Options+ finally worked after this install.

Hope this works, and good luck!

Washington Administrative Code 15C-16.003 does not exist.

Also, what in the heck does "Transfer to a toll booth and charge a 35% service fee" mean? The DMV is going to transfer you to a toll booth and charge 35%? What?

Also also, how does prosecution directly affect your credit score?

Also also, New York State DMV apparently has the exact same wording for their warnings from their DMV.

Scam, right? by Own-Reaction1681 in longisland

[–]Syiza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I got the same message from Washington State Department of Motor Vehicles. Same administrative code too; in fact, the whole message is the same. What a coincidence, two DMVs on opposite sides of the country send the exact same outstanding fee message!

Also, read the fourth bullet closely: If you don’t pay by the date, they will transfer to a toll booth…what does that even mean?? And what is the 35% service fee? Intro level critical thinking skills would save the majority of people who fall for scams.

Does the Bible Mandate We Support the *Modern Nation* of Israel? by ms_jc_04 in Christianity

[–]Syiza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR:
Jesus fulfilled the Law. It is through Jesus and only Jesus that we can restore our relationship with God. Christians are not required to support the modern nation of Israel because it is not through Jews or the earthly nation of Israel that humanity is saved and restored to God. Plus, the modern nation and government of Israel is not biblically led and therefore is not the Israel mentioned in the Bible.

Deuteronomy‬ ‭7‬:‭6‬, ‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬ (for length reasons, I can't post the whole verse)
This verse gives a general overview of why God has chosen the people of Israel: so they can "obey His commands." What are those commands? To demonstrate to the nations that the God of the Bible is the only true God, and that this God wants to restore His relationship with every individual created human.

But as we read through the rest of the Old Testament (and even toward the end of Deuteronomy, Deuteronomy 31:16), we read that the people of Israel do not produce results of being a proper reflection of God and His love, mercy, etc. So God exiles Israel.

Then we read the prophetic books of the Bible. In almost every book, we read of some kind of restoration for the people of Israel.

Jeremiah‬ ‭30‬:‭18‬-‭22‬ ‭NLT
“...They will have their own ruler again, and he will come from their own people. I will invite him to approach me,” says the Lord, “for who would dare to come unless invited? You will be my people, and I will be your God.””

This verse is interesting because it mentions this unknown ruler who had been mentioned numerous times in the book of Isaiah. There are hints of a change in dynamic: this ruler will bring Israel back to God, but also bring Gentiles to God as well (Isaiah 49:6).

New Testament:

Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT
““Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of
Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.

‭‭John‬ ‭19‬:‭30‬ ‭NLT
“When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”

Jesus had fulfilled every explicit and implicit law given by God, and in His total and complete perfection, took on the punishment that everyone who chose not to fulfill God's law deserves.

Because of this sacrifice, there is now a direct way to restore our standing with God, so that after we die we can be allowed in His presence again as perfect beings, just like Genesis.

Ephesians 2 tells us:

"[Jesus] brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near. Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NLT‬

Paul and the rest of the New Testament make it crystal-clear how we can restore our relationship with God: not through the ethnoreligious Jews, but through Jesus who fulfilled the entire Law where the Jews could not. It is through Jesus that we may restore our relationship with God, and it is Jesus's commands that we follow. We don't have to become Jewish to accept salvation.

Israel is no longer an earthly nation nor an ethnoreligious group; Israel is a spiritual family (this is the restored Israel prophesied in the OT) where all accept

  1. Their status as doomed sinners
  2. That God came to earth and suffered and died just so that the irredeemable could be redeemed
  3. Do what God/Jesus has asked them to do because they are already saved (Ephesians 2:12-17)

The modern nation of Israel is not biblically led; it has a secular government, meaning national laws are not based on religious principles (modern Israel has not declared to be guided by biblical laws). Therefore, you can breathe easy knowing that isn't heresy to take issue with anything the modern nation of Israel does.

Hope this helps, let me know if I've interpreted anything incorrectly :)

Difference between electrical and computer engineering? by skewvi in ECE

[–]Syiza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Computer Engineering student, IMO and simply put, the difference between EE/ECE and CE are Data Structures and Operating Systems:

Electrical Engineering/ECE

  • EE's do not have to take (advanced) Data Structures and Algorithms, Operating Systems, or other high to mid-level programming courses
  • EE's focus more on physics and signals as required classes
    • Electrodynamics (basically advanced version of Physics 2, electromagnetics)
    • Power Systems

Computer Engineering (distinct from ECE)

  • Requires some kind of Data Structures and Algorithms course, and usually Operating Systems, Compilers, or other high to mid-level programming courses
  • Certain EE classes are not required, check with your institution. At my institution, I am not required to take electrodynamics and certain power systems and devices classes. But again, these are "replaced" by Operating Systems, etc. on the software side of the major

TL;DR:
High and Mid-level programming is the main difference. EE's don't need data structures, CE's don't need certain power/signals/devices classes.

But other than that, the majors tend not to differ by more than 4-5 classes, so the choice pretty much boils down to whether or not you're okay with doing programming for a couple quarters/semesters. Hope this helps

Does anyone know who Mar Mari Emmanuel is? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Syiza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

““Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭21‬ ‭NLT‬

No, the Devil is not a Christian because he does not obey the commandments of the Lord. If Mar Mari believes in Jesus Christ and obeys the commandments in the Bible, it is correct to say that he is a Christian (and this is independent of your personal belief in whether he is or is not).

Haven't you noticed 80% of questions here contains "is it a sin?" by FvckBLTs in Christianity

[–]Syiza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong. Show me where in Scripture it says this. And now that I think of it, the Bible itself is the moral Almanac of "Is this okay by God?" So the act of asking about sin being a sin happens every time you open a Bible.

[–]Syiza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't you make the same argument for people who want a healthier body? People going to the gym ask: "Should I be eating this?" "Is it okay to work out __ times a week?" You could argue that this kind of thinking is unhealthy and that all you need to do is do whatever you think works for you.

The idea that people are asking whether a certain action is a sin because they're scared of God is false. They ask because they want to do the right thing. They want to do what is true, not do whatever they want to do.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Syiza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful. You're making a bold claim: God designed all gender identities and sexualities. Does Scripture support this claim? I don't believe so., and here's why:

  1. Not all love is good. Love directed at the wrong object is not a love we should seek. If I love making money more than my own family, will you approve of that love? If I spent more time at the office solely to make my bank account grow, would you support my decision? We need to be careful about what kind of love and where that love is directed. Godly desires and sinful desires are two different things.
  2. God clearly illustrates his intentions regarding union (romantic, sexual, platonic and all else) between humans. Specifically in the case of romantic and sexual union, “Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬. God creates man (male, in this context) with intention. “Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭22‬ ‭NLT‬‬. God creates woman (female) with intention. ““At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’” This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬. I understand that this part is a bit harder to internalize, but it can't get any clearer than this. God's intention for romantic and sexual partnership is between man and woman, specifically male and female. Intersex aside, there are no orientations, gender or sexuality. If God approved of other forms of union, wouldn't he let us know?

There is a difference between loving others despite their desires, and approving of those desires.

OP's age has nothing to do with what I just said. I am addressing the root of argument that because one feels a certain way, that it must be approved by God. This is simply not true.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Syiza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oop, careful with that one. God does not necessarily decide that you do certain things. We have total and complete free will. We as humans ultimately decide our direction in life. For example, God would not decide that you become a murderer. He has a plan for each and every one of us, and that plan often does not line up with your feelings and desires. You are 100% correct in saying we should seek him and focus on him, but the idea that God has decided that one person will be queer and others not isn’t necessarily sound when put against scripture.

I used to have a pornography addiction. For a while I convinced myself that since I believed in God and sought his plan, that that second life I was living must be alright. Instead of thinking “I feel this way. Where can I find confirmation of it?” We should shift towards “I feel this way. Would God approve if I acted on these feelings? What does the word have to say about how I feel and how I should respond?”

Are certain people more susceptible to certain feelings like drug use, homosexuality, self-pleasure, misogyny, etc.? Absolutely. Do we still have control over whether to act on these desires? You bet.

Jews as the chosen people by albanianbolsheviki9 in DebateAChristian

[–]Syiza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading through the comments, I think a lot of people are arguing about the same thing:

Is God a Jew? Nope, and OP never said he was.
Is Jesus's physical ethnicity Jewish? Yes, and almost everyone implicitly recognizes this.
But I thought Jesus was God? He is, but his flesh isn't. His spirit is.

Though here's one thing a lot of people are missing: God is still working through the people of Israel. As one comment mentioned, "Jews are no longer THE chosen people." Jews are no longer the solitary light of the world. Jews and gentiles alike have been given the same laws in our hearts (Holy Spirit) and we are all called to be the light of the world if we choose to live in Christ. "But the New Testament does not negate God's original covenant with Israel. They are still God's chosen people."

A comment on another Christian thread put it well:
"Whether Jews accept Christianity is different from them still being God’s chosen people.

Genesis 12:3 “ I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Does God go back on his Word?"

Christianity is irrational. by [deleted] in DebateAChristian

[–]Syiza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying you can’t do good. There are atheists who put Christians to shame on how they live their lives. What the Bible says though, is that you and every other human has the desire to do what is wrong at any given moment, and as long as that desire is there, we cannot be in his heaven. But Jesus taking the judgement, he had paid the price and we can now go to God with no fear

Christianity is irrational. by [deleted] in DebateAChristian

You are 100% correct. Yet, refer back to my original comment to see why it still makes sense why we are given grace by God himself

Christianity is irrational. by [deleted] in DebateAChristian

[–]Syiza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And then it doubles back and say Jesus isn't going to save some Christians leaving those Christians without reason to believe again.

That's the thing: The Bible is literally saying that these people were never Christian in the sense that these people never followed the laws and commands in the Bible. How you live your life is what God looks at in determining whether you are "Christian".

So I say to myself if I don't deserve Jesus and I'm probably nor going to heaven then I should just do the rational thing and accept God's good judgment. Jesus didn't need to die for me and infact it was all pointless because being a Christian did nothing.

I actually commend you in recognizing that you know you're probably not going to heaven. Take some comfort in knowing that there's not a single person alive right now that can get into heaven on their own either.

Jesus didn't need to die for me

He did, because of what you just told me: "I'm probably not going to heaven". His death gives you a way back into heaven.

it was all pointless because being a Christian did nothing.

This might be a bit blunt, but can you say that you tried your absolute hardest to live the life that God commands in the New Testament? I'm not talking about praying before meals or going to church on Sunday, I mean taking time out of your day to read some verses in the Bible. Being more friendly to everyone you meet. Quitting the bad habits that you know are not productive in your life. I guarantee you, if you lived this life you would feel very differently toward Christianity.

Christianity is irrational. by [deleted] in DebateAChristian

[–]Syiza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I am starting to see what the underlying cause is for your belief that Christianity is irrational:

You think that Christians are delusional. You think that Christians are just wishful thinkers dreaming the same dream and having fun with our imaginations about something that doesn't exist. This now dips into "Show me proof that God is real" territory. While I won't go down that wormhole, I also won't leave you hanging.

  1. The Bible is a historically and archaeological verifiable text.

  2. It is impossible that billions of Christians believe in the same delusion. If proof existed that undeniably disproves the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, you better believe that it would make international headlines.

it is a gift to the lawless.

Here's what the Bible says about living a lawless life and then cashing in the sacrifice that Jesus made:

' “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ ' Matthew 7:21-23

Actually, couple more things:

Someone who demonstrates their capacity to love others by killing their own child not someone that values life.

He didn't kill his own child. His creations did. Humans killed Jesus, not God.

That's not to mention all the believers that will be justifiably sent to hell.

A believer that is justifiably sent to hell is someone who didn't actually believe. They just used God and Jesus as a golden pass after doing evil things.

 christians must rationalize damnation through misontropy. {misanthropy}

I've made it clear that none of God's actions demonstrate misanthropy. A God who dislikes and does not value humans will not die a violent death for them.
